Moodbidri team shines at Nat'l level Karate competition

Moodbidri, February 9: Moodbidri International Shorin Reev Karate team has bagged 39 medals in National Level Karate Competition organised by Western Karate School Mangalore at Padmavathi Kala Mantap in Moodbidri recently.

Shorin Reev has secured 10 gold medals, 10 silver and 19 bronze medals in boys and girls sections.

In girls' category Faranha, Fathima Raliya, Jazeela Mariam and Sneha Shetty have bagged gold medals.

NK Muneesa, Swalaha Althaf, Varsha Bhat and Apoorva have won silver medals while Abeer, Barneesha George and Suraksha bagged bronze medals.

In boys' category, Shafeer, Asir P, Salmanul Faris, Thasleem, BV Shamanth and Amruth won gold medals

Bilal, Asgar Ali, Rifaz, Nideem, Abdul Mannal, Abdul Khader and Ajmal won silver medals.

Muhammad Hasim, Shakeel, Safan, Muhammad Shakeer, Safi Nadaf, Habeeb Abdul Khader, Muhammad Noorish, Afiz Ali, Shaheen, Muhammad Aman, Muhammad Raazi, Muhammad Saad, Muhammad Ashrad, Muhammad Aqeel and Abdul Khader Ajmal have won bronze medals.

The winners have practiced Karate under the guidance of Nadeem, Chief Trainer of International Shorin Reev and Sarafraz, Assistant Trainer.

Sairam and Rajesh were present.

Mangaluru, May 25: Four domestic flights that were scheduled to operate from Mangaluru International Airport today have been cancelled. 

A total of six flights were scheduled to depart Mangaluru Airport today. 

Among them, two flights to Mumbai, one to Chennai and one to Bengaluru were cancelled due to lack of passengers and other reasons, sources said.

The remaining two flights – both to Bengaluru – are expected to take off with limited passengers later in the day.  

Domestic flight operations resumed in the country today after a gap of two months. All flight operations had ceased when the nationwide lockdown was imposed in March.

Udupi, Mar 1: Acting on credible information, Udupi district police arrested five persons and seized 1.35 kg of crude gold worth Rs 56.99 lakh from the possession of the accused, custom department said on Sunday.

A case has been registered against four people at Kundapur and one at Byndoor on charges of gold smuggling. The accused were transporting gold from Calicut to Bhatkal, informed Joannes George, joint Commissioner of Customs.

Off these five accused, four persons were held at Kundapur, while other at Byndoor on Saturday evening.

Bengaluru, Mar 26: Karnataka Primary and Higher Education Minister Suresh Kumar on Thursday clarified that the SSLC examinations have not canceled as being claimed by many. 

Taking to Twitter, he said there was confusion among students and parents as wrong news was published in a some of the news papers and even in social media also.
