Mangalore, February 17: The valedictory conference of month long campaign “Hayya-Alal-Falah” (Come towards Success) organised by Jamath-e-Islami Hind (JIH) will be held on Sunday, February 20 at 4.30 pm at Deralakatte City Ground near here.

Muhammad Kunhi, District Convener of JIH told mediapersons at Press Club here on Thursday, that the Campaign that began on January 5 at Sullia, is being conducted at various places in the district.

He said the younger generation which is the future of the country needs to realise its responsibility and duty. In the current scenario, youth have become mere “inactive spectators” of the system. Therefore JIH, through the campaign, has tried to create awareness among them, he said.

Abdullah Javed, JIH President of Karnataka-Goa States, will inaugurate the event.

Yusuf Umari and Abdussalam Vaniyambalam, Members of State Advisory Committee, JIH Kerala, Saleem Mambad, Member of State Advisory Committee of Solidarity, Muhammad Kunhi, District Convener of JIH, Abdussalam U, Mangalore Zone Convener of JIH will take part in the event.

MLA UT Khader, Abdul Azeez Malar, Ibrahim Kodijal and others would particiapate.

Muhammad Muhsin, Campaign Convener, Shabeer Ahmed, Joint Convener, Abdurraheem Ullal, Convener of the conference and Shakir Ullal, Joint conference of the function were present at the press meet.

Hubballi, May 14: South Western Railway (SWR) has so far ferried about 54,000 passengers, including migrant workers, students and stranded people to 11 states to reach their home towns by Shramik Special trains.

So far 40 Shramik Specials were run one each from Kabakaputtur in Mysuru and Hubballi and remaining 38 from Chikkabanavara/Malur from Bengaluru area. About 54,000 passengers were ferried to different parts of the country. Maximum Shramik Specials trains train services were run to Lucknow (9) and Danapur (7).

Shramik Specials were run to Bihar (Bakora, Danapur, Baruni, Darbhanga), West Bengal (Purila, Bankura, New Jalpaiguri), Jharkhand (Hatia, Barkakana), Rajasthan (Jaipur, Udaipur), Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow, Gorakhpur), Orissa (Bhubaneswar), Madhya Pradesh (Gwalior), Uttarakhand (Haridwar), Himachal Pradesh (Una), Tripura (Agartala) and Jammu and Kashmir (Udhampur).

SWR is transporting passengers to their destination as per the demand of the State Government with proper protocol and the receiving State Government is ready to accept them.

Mangaluru, Mar 28: Dakshina Kannada District observed a total shutdown on Saturday with closure of all shops, barring milk booths and pharmacy, to prevent spread of deadly Coronavirus.

The Central Market, a hub of activities where vegetables, groceries, flowers are sold, remained closed. Despite the milk booths and pharmacies being exempted from the purview of bandh, only a few milk booths remained open here.

The administration decided to go far bandh ion the wake of people failing to follow the lockdown guidelines of maintaining social distance and some wandering on the streets without valid reason. Moreover, there was increase in the number of corona cases despite measures taken, Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh said.

Kasaragod, Feb 18: Police have seized counterfeit notes of Rs 45 lakh from a resident here on Tuesday.

The accused Muhammed, a native of Perla, has been taken into custody for carrying the prohibited currency and the police is investigating the crime.
