Mangalore, March 2: Thousands of youth and children took out a rally on Wednesday in Mangalore under the banner of Sunni Students' Federation (SSF) to mark the occasion of 'Eid-Milad'.

The men only march coupled with vehicle rally, was organised by Dakshina Kannada district committee of SSF as part of its month-long state-wide Eid-Milad celebration.

Led by a galaxy of Sunni religious leaders, the rally commenced at 2:30 pm at Thaqwa Masjid near Pumpwell Circle and moved through Kankanady and Balmatta before culminating at Don Bosco Hall near Jyothi.

The enthusiastic youth, most of them students of various Sunni Madrasas, dressed in white attire and holding flags, chanted slogans praising the Prophet (pbuh) and condemning other Muslim organisations throughout the march.

The rally was followed by a mega convention under the promulgation of “Labbaika Ya Rasulallah”, which was formally inaugurated by Basheer Madani, DK district organising secretary of SSF, after a prolonged du'a performed by CTM Atekoya Thangal.

Addressing the gathering Madani said that human history has never witnessed a personality like Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) before or after him.

Recalling the achievements of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), who had changed the fate of Arab world within a short period of 23 years, Madani said that it is not possible for any other personality to reach his stature.

Although the final Prophet of Islam (pbuh), passed away over 14 centuries ago, crores of his followers throughout the world still consider him as their leader, master and role model in all spheres of the life from birth to death, he pointed out.

VU Ishaq Zuhri, District President of SSF, presided over the convention. Abdurrahman Printech, Lukman Hakeem, Ashraf Kinara and Ismaeel Sa'adi were among those present. Ismaeel Master welcomed the gathering, while Yakoob Sa'adi compered the programme and Siddeeq Badakabail proposed vote of thanks.

Prior to the rally, a Madhurrasool Majlis, was held at the Thaqwa Masjid, where five crore swalaths were offered by the SSF activists to Prophet (pbuh) in the presence of prominent Sunni scholars of South Karnataka and Kerala.
