Teachings of Jesus (pbuh) and Muhammad (pbuh) similar: Fr Vincent D'Souza

March 19, 2011
Mangalore, March 19: Many of the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) support and justify the preaching of Jesus Christ (pbuh), said Fr Vincent D'Souza, priest of Panir Church, Deralakatte.

Addressing a gathering at the valedictory ceremony of month-long campaign organised by New Age India Forum, a city based charitable organisation, on “Know the Prophet (pbuh) of Mankind” at Town Hall on Friday evening, he laid emphasis on various similarities between the Bible and the sayings of the prophet of Islam.

Fr D'Souza pointed out that both the messages of Jesus Christ (pbuh) and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) are enriched with mercy, love, compassion, forgiveness and other highest values of humanity.

Calling Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) 'a messenger of peace', he expressed surprise why the great messages of such personality never reached to those portions of Muslims, who have involved themselves in violence and terrorist activities.

Releasing a book “Hazrath Muhammad (pbuh) Kranthidootha”, compiled by Abdussalam Puthige, Editor of Vartha Bharathi daily, Manjunath B, National Trainer, JCI, said that religions are still relevant and necessary for the wellbeing of mankind.

“Educational institutions can produce doctors and engineers in a large number, but, only religion can produce a good human being,” he said.

Manjunath also stressed the necessity of co-existence in the current juncture saying that you should love other religions too, while following your own religion.

NAIF President Rafee'uddeen Kudroli presided over the programme. Shamsuddeen Farooqi, Anwar Sadath and Abdul Khader were among those present.
