Chikmagalur, March 21: Amidst and confusion and chaos, the annual Sandal Uroos programme of Sri Guru Dattatreya Bababudanswami Darga was held in Bababudangiri on Sunday.

As the Shakhadri and temporary Uroos committee stayed away from the celebration, the district administration itself organised and led the event. Abiding by the traditions, Sub-division Officer Dayanand carried sandal paste from Atthigundi village, while 'Mujavar' of the Darga Sayed Akil Pasha pasted the sandal pastes on the tombs and 'Datta Paduke,' following which rest of the rituals were performed.

The devotees expressed their devotion and happiness in many ways. They welcomed the vehicle carrying the sandal paste with the musical instruments and threw flowers and coins at the vehicle. The devotees whose number exceeded 3,000 shouted slogans in the name of Dada Hayath Khalandar. However, most of the devotees were disappointed over Shakhadri's decision of not attending the event. “I wish Shakhadri and Fakirs had attended the event and blessed us. It has been so many days since we received their blessings,” said Dadapeer from Bhadravati.

Most of the devotees who assembled at the spot were from North Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. It was quite evident that the number of Hindu devotees was almost equivalent to that of the Muslims. It seemed as if the Supreme Court decision or Darga-Peetha issue did not affect the devotees from arriving at the spot. “Though I am basically a Hindu, I have named my son as Dadakhalander based on the name of a Fakir. Both Hindus and Muslims have come from our place together in a vehicle,” informed a devotee Venkatesh from Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh.

Tent-stay

The devotees were seen staying in temporary tents in the hill surroundings. The Muzrai Department had made arrangements for 'Prasadm' in the form of afternoon lunch. Most of them expressed their willingness to take part in the Uroos celebration for next two days and also have Darshan of Javagal Darga in Arasikere taluk.

Localites stay away

However, the localites and the Muslims from temporary Uroos committee and Chikmagalur town stayed away from the celebration. The local Muslims who were though willing to take part in the Uroos, did not follow their wish, with the thought that it would appear as a move against the Shakhadri.

Despite the district administration's order, Gouse Mohiddin Shakhadri who is the 'Nasheen of Sajja' has stick onto his decision of observing Uroos on March 26.

Bengaluru, Mar 5: The Karnataka government has constituted a competent authority for I Monetary Advisory (IMA) cases under the KPIDFE (Karnataka Protection of Interest of Depositors in Financial Establishments) Act, 2004, which is required to call claims from erstwhile depositors of the IMA group of entities under the provisions of the Act, said Harsh Gupta, Special Officer and Competent Authority for IMA cases.

In order to ensure transparency and to avoid harassment to the claimants, an online application software has been developed for accepting claims from the depositors, Gupta stated.

"The claim application can be filed from any of Banglore-1, Karnataka-1 and Seva-Sindhu Kendras of the state government in person or through online. The required documents can be submitted using e-attestation along with claims or at a later date, but prior to the claim settlement. The details of authorities for e-attestation will be informed later," the official stated.

The claimants will have to provide Aadhaar authentication based identification or identification by the designated officer based on alternate documents; current mobile number and address among others.

The details of the draft claim filing process has been put for public feedback on website 'imaclaims.karnataka.gov.in'. The depositors can give their feedback on the website, WhatsApp number or email, Gupta stated.

Based on feedback received from the depositors, the claim process and the claim application software will be finalised, the official said and further informed that the start date for acceptance of claims will be informed through wide publicity at a later date.

"There will be a total time period of 30 days for submission of the claims from the start date of acceptance of claims," Gupta said.

An SIT was investigating the multi-crore IMA Jewels case, where the firm had allegedly cheated a large number of investors after promising them impressive returns on their deposits. The SIT has already arrested several government officials and questioned others including politicians in the matter.

The prime accused and Managing Director of IMA Mohammed Mansoor Khan, who had fled the country after several complaints were registered against him in connection with the scam, has also been arrested.

The state government had constituted an SIT to probe the scam when it first came to light in June earlier this year when more than 4,000 investors trooped outside the showroom after an audio clip purportedly recorded by Khan went viral.

Bengaluru, May 20: Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) had to confront an unprecedented situation as there was a commotion at bus stands in various parts of the state due to the mad rush of passengers.

Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi, who is in charge of the transport department, admitted that there were some shortcomings in the arrangements. He, however, was confident that things would improve from Wednesday.

As against the dearth of passengers in the bus stands in Bengaluru a day ago, Wednesday witnessed an overwhelming crowd blaming BMTC authorities for not providing enough buses for all the destinations on time.

Some of the employees who were asked to report to duty before certain time were facing difficulty in reaching the office in the absence of bus despite having daily pass and arriving at the stand well in advance.

Authorities were finding it difficult to convince the public as a bus could ferry only 35 passengers at a time which was way less than the demand.
