Uppinangady, March 21: The entire Muslim community should unite under the 'Samastha' banner, said Kotumala Bapu Musliyar, Central Committee Secretary of 'Samastha'.


He was speaking after inaugurating the second day of the Sunni conference organized at Uppinangady here on Saturday.



NPM Zainul Abideen Thangal, DK District President of 'Samastha' called upon people to build a mighty society following the values of 'Samastha'.



Mangalore Qazi Thwaqa Ahmed Musliyar presided over the function. He said the contribution of 'Samastha' leaders towards the betterment of society is remarkable.



Panakkad Sayyid Bashir Ali Shihab Thangal, Kumbol Sayyed Ali Thangal offered Du'a on the occasion.



Religious scholars including Hadi Ibrahim Thangal, Abdul Jabbar, Anas Muthukoya Thangal, BK Abdul Khader Khader Al Kasimi and others were present.



Prior to the stage programme, an institutional rally from Darga Shareef Kootel to the dais was held. Puttur Taluk SKSSF President Sayyid Sharafuddin Thangal inaugurated the rally which was accompanied by Daff and Thaleem show.



Haji Musthafa Kempi, Chairman of Conference Publicity Committee welcomed the gathering. SB Muhammad Darimi, Mudarris of Uppinangady Kendra Jumma Masjid delivered introductory remarks. Rafeeq Master, KMA Kodungai, Sirajuddin Faizi, KV Abdul Majeed Darimi compered the programme.

Bengaluru, Apr 19:  Karnataka's Technical Education department following Union Home Ministry’s guidelines, on Sunday directed all its colleges not to use the Zoom application to conduct online classes during the ongoing lockdown period.

Considering Union Home Ministry's advisory that Zoom app is not safe, the department has taken the decision and issued a circular asking all government, aided and unaided engineering, polytechnic (Diploma) colleges to stop using the app immediately.

The department recommended the use of a free app developed by TCS: "TCS iON Digital class room" or any other App recommended by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to conduct the online classes.

Mangaluru, Jan 17: An auto-mobile shop at Deralakatte here caught fire on Friday incurring huge loss on the shopkeeper.

According to police, the incident happened in the morning when the shop owner opened the shop.

Locals suspect that miscreants might have set the shop on fire and had escaped from the scene at night.

Mangaluru/Mysuru, Mar 2:Unseasonal rain that lashed several parts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Mysuru districts on Monday brought big relief from scorching heat experienced since last one week.

According to official sources here, the Port city received rain for more than two hours since 0500 hrs. Mangaluru, Thokkottu, Ullal, Kavoor, Bondel, Bejai and other areas surrounding Mangaluru experienced rainfall.

Power supply was disrupted following rainfall. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted 'generally cloudy sky' for Mangaluru on Monday.
