DYFI continues protest demanding sites for poor

Mangalore, March 21: Democratic Youth Federation of India continued its campaign seeking sites for houseless poor and demanding implementation of Rent Control Act by staging protest cum mass submission of application for the allotment of house sites at Munnur gram panchayat near here on Monday.
Addressing the protesters Muneer Katipalla, District President of DYFI said Chief Minister Yeddyurappa who conducted Vishwa Kannada Convention spending crores of rupees has forgotten that a large number of people do not have a house of their own.
He said, on the other hand Yeddyurappa led BJP government does not hesitate to celebrate 1000 days, and party workers' day, forgetting that they have been elected to give a fair administration.
More than 250 residents submitted their applications demanding house sites. Protesters took out a rally from Kutharu Junction to Panchayath office.
CPIM leader Krishnappa Salian, DYFI leaders Mahabala Deppalimar, Harshavardana Ullal and others were present.
