Mini Vidhana Soudha, ready for occupation, at End Point Manipal

Udupi, March 23: Over 40 district level government offices are all set to come under one roof soon.

`Mini Vidhana Soudha', the District Offices' Complex, under construction at End Point Manipal, is nearing completion and will be ready for occupation in May this year.

The DOC will be spread across 1.34 lakh sq fts, in three blocks. The Block `A' has four floors and will house the DC's offices. Block `B' also has three floors and will house a 500 capacity, air conditioned auditorium and the offices coming under the Deputy Commissioner. Block `C' has under ground floor, ground floor and two more floors. This will house ZP office and other offices coming under it. At the under ground space for a bank branch, treasury office, post office, canteen and petty shops will be provided.

The offices to be brought under one roof include, DC Office, ZP Office, Office of the Handicapped Welfare Department, District Registrar's Office, Employment Exchange, District Information Department, Treasury Office, Women and Child Development Department, District Industries Center, Social Forestry, Horticulture Department, Labour Department, Watershed Development Office, Department of Silk, Handloom and Textile Department, Zilla Panchayath Engineering Sub Division and ZP Engineering Division, Department of Statistics, Urbal Delvelopment Department, Department of Weights and Measures, Social Welfare Department, Department of Ports and Fisheries, Office of the Deputy Director of Public Instructions, DDPU, Agricultural Department, Nirmithi Kendra, Karnataka Village Industries Board, Statewide Area Network Department, Office of Sub Registrar of Co-operative Department etc.

According to District Incharge Minister Dr VS Acharya the Mini Vidhana Soudha will be inaugurated in the first week of May, this year.

Yadgir, Feb 27: A four-year-old girl and her four-month-old sibling died after consuming pesticide mistaking it to juice at Kodal village in Vadagera taluk of Yadgir district on Wednesday.

After noticing her daughters lying lifeless, mother Shehnaz attempted suicide by consuming poison.

Khairunna (4) mistook pesticide for juice and consumed it while her mother was busy doing household chores. She also reportedly made her four-month-old sister drink. 

Upon seeing the siblings lying lifeless, Shehnaz, fearing her husband and mother-in-law, attempted suicide by consuming poison.

All three were rushed to Yadgir district hospital. The siblings died while their mother is battling for her life.

Mangaluru, Apr 29: District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary on Wednesday inaugurated a mobile fever clinic to cure COVID-19 patients.

Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has converted one of its buses into a clinic in Mangaluru to treat COVID-19 patients.

The mobile fever clinic has a bed for the patient and a cabin for the doctor. There is also a seating facility, medicine box, wash-basin, sanitizer, soap oil, a separate water facility, and fans.

Jan 30: One positive case of novel coronavirus has been found in Kerala. The student was studying at Wuhan University in China. The patient is stable and is being closely monitored.

This is the first case of coronavirus that has been reported in India.

Until now, there have only been many suspected cases across the country. A total of eight patients, five of them in Mumbai, are under observation in Maharashtra for suspected coronavirus infection. Six patients were already under observation and two more people, who complained of cough and mild fever, symptoms similar to the coronavirus, were put under medical watch on Tuesday evening.

One suspected case each has been reported in Rajasthan and Chandigarh.

Novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a large family of viruses that causes illnesses ranging from the common cold to acute respiratory syndromes. However, the virus that has so far killed 170 people and affected 7,000 in China is a novel strain and not seen before.

It has emerged from a seafood and animal market in Wuhan city and is suspected to have spread to as far as the United States.

According to the World Health Organisation, the common symptoms of the novel coronavirus strain include respiratory symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties.
