Baba Ramdev outfit launches blood-signature drive against corruption

Udupi, March 23: As many as 300 people, mainly students, under the banner of Udupi District unit of Bharath Swabhiman Yuva Sanghatane, made their signature in blood, to mark the campaign against corruption and black money, at Sheshashayana Auditorium, here on Wednesday.

Bharath Swabhimana Yuva Sanghatane is a youth organization formed by Baba Ramdev.

They signed a memorandum demanding the government to bring back money deposited in the Swiz Banks and utilize the same for the development of the nation. Over Rs 400 lakh crores of Indian money, earned by illegal means misusing laws, officials and power had been deposited in the Swiss Banks. If that was brought back to India and used for the welfare of the nation, every village will get a development fund of Rs 65 crores, unemployment problem could be solved, asmany as 64 types of taxes could be right off, every village could get a multi speciality hospital and play ground, 24 hour power and water supply would be provided and India could see a development, thrice the development of America'', the memorandum said.

Sri Nrisimhashrama Swamiji of Balkudru Mutt, Barkur, inaugurated the campaign by signing in blood. As the money brought back from Swiz Bank would empower the youth, students will have a major and responsible role to play.

PP Hegde, advocate and founder president of Yuva Shakthi Sanghatane, Sangha Pariwar leader Raghavendra Acharya, social activist Leeladhar Shetty Kaup, Swabhimani Sanghatane district unit President Harish Padukare and others participated in the programme.

Prior to the programme, students took out a march on the streets of Udupi from Kunjibettu.

Mangaluru, Apr 25: The Kasturba medical college hospital at Manipal in Udupi district has decided to resume normal outpatient department services for all specialities from Monday.

In a release, hospital medical superintendent Avinash Shetty said the services will be made available from 8.30 am to 1 pm.

The services had been suspended in view of the nationwide lockdown.

Those visiting the hospital should visit the temporary screening kiosk set up outside the hospital, from where they will be shifted to the respective departments.

Mask is essential for all patients and their attenders.

Only one attender is allowed along with a patient.

Doctor's consultation through telemedicine service is also available from 9 am to 4 pm.

Trauma and emergency services will function as usual, the release said.

Mangaluru, May 2: The Dakshina Kannada district administration is gearing up to make necessary arragements at the Mangaluru International Airport as the Centre has shown green signal to bring back stranded Indians from the Gulf countries. 

Karnataka is making efforts to bring back 10,823 people stuck abroad. Apart from Mangaluru, Bengaluru Airport also will be used. As many as 6,100 people will be transported in first stage with speical flights. Soon after their arrival, the administraion will send them to compulsary quarantinement in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu and other neighbouring districts.

Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateeel said that the govt has made elaborate arrangements to conduct medical test on arrival at the airport. As per plan, based on medical check-up, they will be categorised as group A/B/C. Later, they will be quarantined for the mandated days, he added.

The following is the break-up Kannadigas stranded abroad: 4,408 people are tourists/visitors, 3,074 students, 2,784 migrants/working professionals and 557 shipping crew.

Countries from where stranded people will be brought back to Karnataka in the first stage include Canada (329), the US (927), the UAE (2,575), Qatar (414), and Saudi Arabia (927).

Bengaluru, Jun 9: The total number of positive COVID-19 cases in Karnataka rose to 5,921 on Tuesday after the state reported two deaths and 161 new cases of the virus.

"Two deaths and 161 new COVID-19 positive cases reported from yesterday 5 pm till today at 5 pm, taking the total number of positive cases to 5,921," said Karnataka Health Department.

The toll in the state is presently at 66.

While 164 patients have been discharged today, the number of discharged patients so far is 2,605. The active cases in the state stands at 3,248.

Among the new cases, Yadgir contributed highest (61), followed by Bengaluru Urban (29) and Dakshina Kannada (23). Udupi did not report any new case. More details to follow.
