Hundreds gather at Samastha Sunni Conference

Mangalore, March 27: The South Karnataka unit of Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama on sunday organised a Samastha Sunni Conference in the city on Sunday.


Thousands of people converged at Nehru Maidan to the listen to the speeches of Sunni ulamas.


The conference was held under the promulgation of “preserving the tradition is the motto of Samastha”.
Mangalore Qazi Thwaqa Ahmed Musliyar inaugurated the conference.



The conference commenced at 10 am with the Ulama meet, which continued up to 4:00pm.



The public meet started at 4:30 pm, under the presidency of TKM Bava Musliyar, Qazi of Kasaragod.
Kotumala Bapu Musliyar, Secretary, Samastha was the main speaker.

Mangaluru, Jul 2: As many as 90 persons have tested positive for covid-19 in last 24 hours in Dakshina Kannada district. 

With this, the total number of coronavirus positive cases in the district mounted to 915. 

Out of the 90 positive cases, fifteen persons had returned from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Dubai. A BJP MLA, DHO and a pathologist are also among those who infected.

Mangaluru, Jun 29: A hospital set up in 1848 in the Port City has to remain closed till July 5 as majority of the Doctors and Staff at Lady Goschen Government Hospital are quarantined after coming in contact with a COVID-19 infected person.

Hospital Medical Superintendent said that both in-patient and out-patient wings of the hospital will remain closed till July 5 as there is a need to fumigate and sanitise all the departments of the hospital. Patients for treatment under 'Ayushman Bharat – Arogya Karnataka' scheme will be sent to private medical colleges with the referral card from the hospital. The hospital will start functioning normally from July 6.

The Lady Goschen Government Hospital, earlier known as the maternity Hospital, is the oldest hospital in the district and dates back to 1848.

Bengaluru, May 10: Karnataka on Sunday reported 59 new cases of coronavirus, taking the total number of cases in the state to 848, informed state health department.
Out of the total number of cases, 422 people have been discharged and 31 have died due to the infection in the state.
The health department further informed that six COVID-19 patients are currently in the Intensive Care Unit.
