Mangalore, April 1: A day ahead of the much pre-occupied ICC Cricket World Cup Cricket final, SSLC examinations have commenced across the state. Although the examination commenced at 10:30 am, tensed students around the examination centres were seen making last minute preparation prior to entering their respective examination halls.

SSLC exams begin across district

In Dakshina Kannada district, as many as 34,269 students are slated to appear for the examinations, which will conclude on April 13, a few days after the commencement of Indian Premier League.
There are 94 examination centres in the district. Mangalore taluk has highest number of students -7,436 while Moodbidri taluk has lowest number of students -1529 appearing for the examination. Of the total students, 17,401 are boys and 16,895 are girl students.
Among the 421 schools of the district, 155 are government schools, 107 aided and 151 unaided schools along with 8 residential school and JTS schools, according to a press release issued by the district administration.
Prohibitory orders
Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadav has clamped prohibitory orders within 200 metre radius of the SSLC examination centres during the examination to avoid any untoward incidents.
As per the prohibitory orders, all the photocopying centres within the 200 meter radius of the examination centres should be closed half an hour before the examination.
