Train traffic block to facilitate railway works

Mangalore, April 3: Central Railway will operate traffic block for Vidyavihar yard remodelling and commissioning of Kurla-Thane fifth and sixth line from 12.30 am to 3.30 pm on Sunday between Ghatkopar and Kurla on up fast line, fifth and sixth lines for carrying out works of connecting Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) to Kurla-Thane fifth and sixth lines. Due to this, no trains will be leaving/arriving LTT and up fast line traffic will be diverted on up slow line during the block period.

The details of short termination, change in departure station are as below: 12620 Mangalore-LTT Matsyagandha express scheduled to arrive LTT at 6.35 am on April 3 will be terminated at Panvel at 5.15 am. 16345 LTT -Thiruvananthapuram Netravati express schedule to depart at 11.40 am will depart from Panvel at 2 pm on Sunday. 12619 LTT -Mangalore Matsyagandha express schedule to depart at 3.20 pm will depart from Panvel at 4.30 pm on Sunday.

16346 Netravati express scheduled to arrive at LTT at 4.40 pm on Sunday will arrive at 7.30 pm.

Bengaluru, Mar 15: The week-long ban imposed by the Karnataka Government from Saturday is yet to get a total response in the State to fight against the spread of killer disease Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The ban has witnessed a considerable reduction in the travelling public by Bus and train. Bus terminal and Railway stations wore desert look or only a very few public travelling. KSRTC, which was maintaining service for every 10 minutes once between the State Capital and to City of Palaces, was forced to cancel most of the service due to very little patronage. 

"We were left with no option but to cancel the fleet since there are no passengers," sources at the KSRTC Bus terminal told media persons.

Mangaluru, May 18: The coastal city of Mangaluru and other parts of twin districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are receiving heavy rain coupled with lightning and thunder.

The rain, which started in the wee hours, continued to lash for hours. It brought much relief from the sweltering heat.

Waterlogged roads in different parts of Mangaluru cause inconvenience to motorists. The clouds were so dark that the drivers were forced to switch on the headlights while driving vehicles in the morning.

The IMD has predicted heavy rain in the coastal Karnataka for next two days.

Lighting claims a life

Meanwhile, a youth died after lightning struck him at Paduyenagudde in Katpadi of Udupi district on Sunday late night. The deceased was identified as Bharat. Though he was rushed to the hospital, he failed to respond to the treatment.

Mangaluru, May 4: District Health Officer Dr Ramachandra Bairi on Monday said that a special team, comprising of six members, has been constituted to find the source of Corona infection in Dakshina Kannada .

The team is expected to file its report by May 6. It is still not clear if Bantwal was the source was the infection or not.

He said 1st phase of investigation in this regard is complete and the samples taken on the 12th day will give a clear picture.
