Ramothsava' to be celebrated from April 11

Mangalore, April 5: Sri Ramothsava Samithi, Vishwa Hindu Parishath and Bajaranga Dal will jointly organize the 10th edition of 'Ramothsava' from April 11 to 13 at Nehru Maidan here.



Addressing the media persons at Press Club here on Tuesday MB Puranik, Honorary President of the Samithi said the Utsva which also marks the birthday of Shri Ram is aimed at instilling and enhancing his devotion among the people.



The main objective of Utsava is to urge to build a mighty Rama Mandir at Ayodhya depicting national culture, he said. “Despite Allahabad court's verdict that Ayodhya was birthplace of Shri Ram, it's disheartening that the construction of the Ram Mandir has not yet finished,” he said.



'Srinivas Kalyanothsava' which will be held on April 13 for people to have blessings of Lord Venkatesh at their doorstep, he said.


Jeethendra S Kottary, President of the Samithi said as part of the Utsav, a 60 feet effigy of Ravana made by Kolkata artistes will be burnt, he said.



Sports and cultural programmes will also be performed, he said.



Manohar Thulajaram, President of VHP, Gopla Kuthar and Shivananda Mendon were among those present.

Mangaluru, Jun 10: A youth, who staged suicide drama at Netravati River Bridge near Thokkottu on the outskirts of the city, reportedly found alive in Shivamogga today.

Praveen Saphalya a 28-year-old man from Kurnad village in Bantwal taluk was missing since yesterday. His motorbike was found abandoned on the Netravati bridge at around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday (June 9).

It was suspected that he had committed suicide by jumping off the bridge. Hence, police and fire fighters had launched a search operation for his body in the river with the help of divers on Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, the missing person reportedly surfaced in Shivamogga this morning.

According to sources, Saphalya was working as salesman for SLRK Limited, is reportedly deep in debt. Unable to face the harassment of his creditors, he had parked the bike on the bridge and left the city, sources said. Local police are probing the matter.

Mangaluru, Mar 24: The District Wenlock Hospital Superintendent Dr H R Rajeshwaridevi has filed a complaint with the police on Tuesday seeking action against those circulating fake videos of a man infected with COVID-19, at the hospital.

In the video, a man was seen struggling to breathe at a hospital. The message in the video says that the man was admitted at Wenlock Hospital.

Dr Rajeshwaridevi, who issued a clarification, stated that video clips which are being circulated on social media is not from Wenlock Hospital.

Moreover, Wenlock Hospital does not use blue colour beds.

Shivamogga, Jun 8: Tyavarekoppa Tiger and Lion Safari in Shivamogga re-opened on Monday at 9 am.

Zoo authorities said that they are ensuring that all standard operating procedures are being followed, including ensuring social distancing and wearing of masks by visitors.

It is being ensured that pairs of birds are being kept inside enclosures.

Regular sweeping and spraying on the premises are also being taken care of, authorities said.

Floor markings have been made at the ticket counter to maintain social distancing.
