Chain snatching case resurfaces in Manipal

Manipal, June 15: Two motorcycle-borne youths allegedly snatched Karimanisara (Mangalasoothra) from a woman in Ananth Nagar here on Monday at around 8 pm.

According to police, Manjula Shenoy, wife of Vijayanath Shenoy was walking near Manipal Syndicate Circle with her friend Shankari, when the suspects who followed them on a two-wheeler snatched her chain and escaped. The chain cost was estimated at Rs 30, 000.

A case has been registered at Manipal police station.

Mangaluru, Jun 8: Forum Fiza Mall in Mangaluru on Monday reopened for public after Ministry of Home Affairs allowed the reopening of shopping malls from June 8 with certain precautionary measures amid COVID-19 pandemic.

People visited the mall wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.

Earlier, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had said that religious places and places of worship for public, hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services along with shopping malls will be permitted to open from June 8.

However, these facilities will not be able to resume operations inside containment zones designated by authorities in states, said a government notification.

Bengaluru, Mar 26: Karnataka Primary and Higher Education Minister Suresh Kumar on Thursday clarified that the SSLC examinations have not canceled as being claimed by many. 

Taking to Twitter, he said there was confusion among students and parents as wrong news was published in a some of the news papers and even in social media also.

Bengaluru, Apr 7: With reporting of 12 positive cases of COVID-19 since last evening, including three women, the total number of confirmed cases in Karnataka increased to 175, including four deaths.

According to official sources, while three fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported from Bengaluru, two each had been reported from Bagalkot, Kalaburagi and Mandya, followed by one each at Gadag and Bengaluru Rural districts.

After a gap of over three weeks, two more fresh cases had been reported from Kalaburagi, which had reported the first death of the country.
