ChildFund India's 60th annversary celebrations held

Mangalore, June 17: As part of the 60th anniversary celebrations of ChildFund India a programme was organised at SDM Mangala Jyothi Integrated School, Vamanjoor in the city on Thursday.

Latha R Kini, Vice President, KCCI, Mangalore, inaugurated the programme at Parvathi Babu Shetty Hall.

Drawing and painting competitions for schoolchildren were held on the occasion.

Mangalore MLA U T Khader, Nelson Pinto, Rajendra Shetty were present among others.

A release issued by the organisers stated that ChildFund India operates out of 30 field offices, with its headquarters in Bangalore. With 75 local partners, ChildFund India is improving the lives of 1 million children and their family members across 15 of India's 28 states, partnering with more than 400 grassroots organisations. ChildFund India also supports 1,000-plus children's clubs that mobilize to improve their communities in a wide variety of ways, such as raising awareness around issues like education and child marriage.

Bengaluru, May 10: Karnataka on Sunday reported 59 new cases of coronavirus, taking the total number of cases in the state to 848, informed state health department.
Out of the total number of cases, 422 people have been discharged and 31 have died due to the infection in the state.
The health department further informed that six COVID-19 patients are currently in the Intensive Care Unit.

Mangaluru, Mar 27: Nine throat swab samples that were sent for testing of the coronavirus, have been declared as negative while samples of four more persons are currently being tested, official sources said on Friday.

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B. Rupesh said that 2,902 people are under home quarantine in the district as of today while three were admitted to hospitals for observation.

Around 38,051 people have been inspected, so far, here in this district.

Bengaluru, Apr 17: Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, married Revathi, grand-niece of former Congress Minister for Housing, M Krishnappa, on Friday.

According to sources, more than 100 people participated in the marriage ceremony held at Kumaraswamy's farmhouse in Kethaganahally, Ramanagara.

There were around 50-60 members from former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda's family and more than 30 people participated from Revathi's family, sources added.

This comes in the middle of a nationwide lockdown which has been imposed to deal with the coronavirus threat.

Earlier, HD Kumaraswamy had said that the marriage ceremony would be held behind closed doors in the presence of family members.

Nikhil Kumaraswamy, who contested the Lok Sabha election from Mandya, is also the national youth wing president of Janata Dal-Secular.
