Mangalore, June 20: Minister for Environment Krishna J Palemar said the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has planned to adopt a 'kugrama' (most backward village) in the State and develop it as a model village.
Speaking to media persons at Kokkada, Belthangady taluk, on the sidelines of a function on Sunday, Mr Palemar said that the village was yet to be identified. The KSPCB would select a village having some infrastructure or with no facilities, he said.
The Minister said that the board would utilise its internal fund for developing the village.
If it was not enough it would ask the government for additional grant, he added.
