Mukka Seafood Industries gets FKCCI Export Excellence Award

Mangalore, June 23: The Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FKCCI) has conferred – Mukka Seafood Industries Pvt. Ltd. with the Export Excellence Award 2011 –Best District Export Award, at an event organized at Le-Meridian, Bangalore recently.

A Trophy and a Citation were handed over by Dr. Anup K Pujari, I.A.S., Director General of Foreign Trade, New Delhi, Mr. K. Jothiramalingam, I.A.S., Principal Secretary, Commerce & Industries Dept., GoK, Mr. C. J. Mathew, I.A.S., Development Commissioner, Cochin Special Economic Zone (CSEZ) and Mr. H. S. Upendra Kamath, Chairman and Managing Director, Vijaya Bank. Mr. N. S. Srinivasa Murthy, President, FKCCI, Mr. JR Bangera, President Elect FKCCI, K Shiva Shanmugam, Vice President, FKCCI and S. Sampathraman Chairman, EXIM Committee were also present during this occasion.

Mr.K Mohammed Haris, Director of Mukka Seafood Industries Pvt Ltd received the Trophy and the Citation on behalf of the Management.

Tabassum wins Mangaluru Press Club Award for service to HIV affected children

Mangaluru, Feb 19: Social worker Tabassum who has been rendering selfless service to HIV/AIDS affected children through her shelter home 'Snehadeep' at Bejai has been selected for the Annual Award of Mangaluru Press Club for the year 2019.

Tabassum, a resident of Konaje was chosen by a team of judges comprising Prof Balakrishna Gatti, Dr Vasanth Kumar Perla and Dr Nagaveni Manchi.

Suo moto case against saffronites who threatened to behead U T Khader

Mangaluru, Jan 29: The police have registered a suo motu case against some of the youths who raised life threat slogans against former Karnataka Minister and Congress MLA UT Khader during the pro-Citizenship Amendment Act rally here on January 27.

A video of the incident that went viral on social media showed the youths belonging to BJP and other saffron outfits raising slogans that they will “cut off his limbs and chop off his head if necessary” during the rally organised by the BJP in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act on Monday.

Though Mr Khader did not file a complaint, the Congress party had urged the police to register a suo motu case.

Kasaragod medical college likely to be convert into COVID-19 hospital

Kasaragod, Apr 6: Even as the number of positive cases of Novel Coronovirus is on increase in this district, the ten-member medical team from Thiruvananthapuram on Monday will inspect and review modalities to convert the proposed Kasaragod medical college into a COVID-19 hospital.

Given the constraints being faced by the district hospital in Kanhangad near here, the 200-beded Kasaragod medical college hospital in Ukkinada near here would be equipped to cater to the Covid-19 patients on isolation.

The ten member medical experts who reached here late on Sunday, are on a special mission to immediately equip the hospital as to convert it as a Covid-19 centre.
