Mangaolore, June 25: Two more unreserved railway ticket issuing counters managed by private agencies will come up in the city within three months.
Announcing this at a meeting here on Friday, S.K. Raina, Divisional Railway Manager, Phalghat Division, Southern Railway, said at present only one such counter functioned near the Mangalore Central Railway Station here. It issued 1,000 tickets a day.
He said the location of two counters proposed was yet to be finalised. But they would be opened near the Mangalore Central Railway Station. If there was good response to them, more such counters would be opened in the city.
Southern Railway had named those counters as Jansadharan Ticket Booking Sewak (JTBS) counters. People were not allowed to reserve tickets at such counters. Those who managed those counters collected one rupee in excess of travel fare as approved by Southern Railway.
