Mangalore, June 25: The price hike of petroleum products by the government has caused displeasure among many.

Diesel, kerosene and LPG prices were raised to Rs. 3, Rs. 2 and Rs. 50 respectively from the last night. Followed by hike in diesel, KSRTC officers are going to have the meet in the evening which is a clear indication that bus charges will also be increased.

It is also interesting to note that the government has increased the price after the declaration of election results of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, Puduchery and Assam last month.

Government states that the hike in petrol product is just limited to vehicle owners and it won't affect the common people whereas in reality increase in petroleum products leads to inflation in food products too says, one localite who got frustrated with the hike in petroleum products.

Hike in petroleum product is a conspiracy to divert the campaign of Lok Pal Bill. Whenever people got aware and raised their voice against the government, their campaign was diverted with unnecessary issues so that government can be on safer side. Even though central government raises the price of petroleum product, it's the duty of state government to bear that burden rather than imposing that burden on state people, said Sunil Kumar Bajal, Secretary CPI (M), Mangalore.

Congress led UPA government has made history by increasing the price of petroleum product for more than five times in a year. Government which is elected for betterment of country is sucking the blood of poor people, said Padmanabha Kottary, BJP District President.

Condemning the hike in petroleum products JDS leader M G Hegde said that the state government should take some remedial steps by decreasing the taxation on petroleum products so that people can lead happy life.
