Mangalore, June 26: Chikmagalur MLA?C?T?Ravi said that the greatest fear of Mahatma Gandhi that Congress will ruin the country has come true because it is Congress, which sow the seed of corruption in Indian soil, nurtured it and is reaping personal gains from it.

Addressing the gathering during BJP's Jana Sangharsh Abhiyan at Sanghaniketan on Saturday, Ravi said that after Independence, Mahatma Gandhiji had openly told that National Congress must be dissolved after Independence because the purpose for which Congress was formed was over once the country attained independence. He feared that if the National Congress existed further, it would lose its identity as a platform for freedom struggle and get transformed into a political party. He thought people would soon misuse it.

“Time to time Congress leaders misused the name of Congress claiming themselves to be the inherited custodians of our Independence,”?said Ravi adding that Gandhiji had asked the members to form their own parties if they wished. “While the honest lot broke out of Congress and plunged into social reformation after independence, Nehru who disliked the view of Gandhiji clung on to Congress with his followers and the rest is evident,”?said Ravi.

Listing out scams from Jeep scam (1948) to Nagarwala Finance Scam, Maruti Udyog scam, Bofors to Harshad Mehta scam, Gold Star to JMM?scam, Telgi, Common Weath games to Yes Bank and 2G?scam, Ravi said that all of these scams and people involved in these scams are not the BJP members. They are all either Congress leaders or those linked with Congress.

“Moghuls and British looted us in the past. Now Congress is continuing what they did,” said Ravi adding that amidst all the hue and cry over Jan Lokpal Bill, Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul have not uttered a word so far.

“If the Lokpal bill is introduced, Congress leaders will be behind bars and Congress will lose its face,”?said Ravi adding that Congress knows it very well that if the entire list of people having Swiss accounts is exposed, Congress will be doomed and people will reject the umpteen number of parks, roads, circles and centres named after Nehru, Indira and Rajiv. Ravi further said that if the alleged Rs 16 trillion dollar stocked in Swiss Bank comes to India, the country can be run without taxes for 30 years, poor can be given free ration for 37 years, Rs four crore can be distributed to every village in the country and four-lanes can be laid from every taluk head quarters to national capital.

He called upon the people to start another freedom struggle to wipe out corruption that has been nurtured by Congress over decades.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has opined that barring Lal Bahadur Shastry, all other Prime Minister of the country during Congress rule were corrupt.

Kateel said that Congress is continuing the British Raj in India, post independence through its anti-people policies and Sonia Gandhi is continuing dictatorial rule of Indira Gandhi. Assembly Deputy Speaker N?Yogish Bhat and others were present.

Mangaluru/Udupi, May 20: Islamic scholars belonging to different schools of thoughts including two prominent Qadis have issued special guidelines asking all Muslims in the region to offer prayers and celebrate Eid al-Fitr at home this year in keeping with the extended covid-19 lockdown.

Eid al-Fitr which marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan is rather a ‘humanitarian event’ than a fiesta. This year Eid is likely to be observed in coastal Karnataka on May 23 or May 24 depending on sighting of the new moon.

Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the Muslims are preparing for — and reconciling itself to — a most unusual Eid bereft of all the usual trappings like huge prayer congregations, ceaseless shopping, social visits and the inviting warmth of an Eid Mubarak embrace.

In their separate messages, Udupi Qadi Bekal Ibrahim Musliyar and Mangaluru Qadi Twaqa Ahmed Musliyar have urged Muslims to refrain from all kinds of public gatherings during Eid. Noting that Muslims in the region have followed all the advisories in issued by the government to contain the spread of coronavirus in the blessed month of Ramadan, they have urged them to follow the guidelines during Eid too.

On social media groups, messages like “no new clothes, just wear your best clothes” are being circulated among family and friends, urging people to fill the festive void with the spirit of giving. The suggestions range from paying a needy child’s school fee or someone’s rent to helping a lockdown-hit trader revive his business.

Following guidelines are issued by the top clerics ahead Eid

1) There will be no Eid prayer in mosques or Eid-gahs. Hence, Muslims should offer Eid al-Fitr prayer in their homes with family members.

2) Distributing Zakat al-Fitr among needy is mandatory. However necessary safety measures should be taken while going out such as wearing masks and maintaining physical distance. As there is lockdown from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. every day, Zakat al-Fitr can be distributed a day before Eid or on the day of Eid before evening.

3) Women, children and elderly people should not step out of the houses.

4) Avoid visiting graveyards or other places.

5) All mosques are closed due to lockdown. Hence, observe Eid in a simple way and set an example for the society.

6) Strictly follow all the guidelines issued by the state and central governments
