Female staff being harassed at hospital: DSS

Mangalore, June 28: The lives of female staff at E.S.I Hospital have turned miserable because of Dr. Gopalkrishna K, who is harassing them mentally as well as sexually, alleged Rajaram T, member, Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samithi(DSS).

Addressing the media persons here on Tuesday, he said that Nalini, who has been working in the hospital for the last 31 years, had been cheated by Dr. Gopalkrishna. “She had submitted an application asking for loan along with another staff Gita. Nalini's application was rejected by Gopalkrishna citing government reasons. But at the same time her application was used to forge her thumb impression as well as her signature to provided loan to Gita on her assurance. When Nalini came to know about this conspiracy, she asked to give back her application but in the return was assaulted by Gopalkrishna”, Rajaram alleged.

Rajaram groused that police officers also rejected to file a case against Gopalkrishna, following which a case of passing the loan with forge signature has been filed at second additional CJM court.

He also said that a number of female staff have written letters to the health minister and deputy commissioner complaining the ill nature of their superior demanding his dismissal so that they can feel secure in their working place.

Ramesh Kotyan, District Convener, Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samithi, Rohit Ullal, Kiran Kumar, and Keshav, Husband of Nalini were present at the meet.

Kasaragod, Jul 27: Seven persons belonging to two relative-families who attended a funeral recently had been tested positive for Coronavirus on Monday.

Sources said the two families had been to Thavinjal near here for the funeral of a man who died at the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital on July 19.

Later, the samples of these seven persons were sent for testing after they developed symptoms of COVID-19, the result of which came out on Monday.

Mangaluru, Feb 6: In a case of suspected political rivalry, a 28-year-old BJP activist was brutally assaulted by a gang at Munchoor here, police said on Thursday.

Police said that the injured identified as Yashodhar is undergoing treatment at Padmavathi Hospital here.

Four people namely – Diwakar, Dinesh Shetty, Ashwith Kulal and Yashodhara Agaramelu – assaulted Yashodhar and posed him with a death threat. It was reported that the gang had been keeping an eye on Yashodhar’s movements for some time now.

Udupi, May 2: All the 18 people who were advised self-quarantine in connection with the Thekkatte petrol bunk incident have been tested negative, however, they were asked to continue the 14-day quarantine, said DHO Sudhirchandra Suda on Saturday.

the petrol bunk at Thekkatte was sealed after a Covid infected person had food and took bath at the petrol bunk, while he was travelling from Mumbai to Mandya.

The employees and the owner of the petrol bunk along with the six employees at Sasthana toll gate were asked to quarantine themselves for 14 days.
