Addressing media persons here on Friday, the KPCC Secretary said that Congress ruled states of the country have lessened the burdern on the poor people by reducing the VAT following the Prime Ministers call.
However, Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, has refused to reduce the VAT and cess, Mr D'Souza said adding that 14 per cent VAT on petroleum products in Karnataka is highest in the entire country.
“Instead of reducing the VAT and cess, the Karnataka Government hiked the KSRTC bus fare, thus increased the burden on poor and middle class people,” he pointed out.
