Manjeswaram Gram Panchayat leaps into e-governance

Manjeswaram, July 5: The Manjeswaram Gram Panchayat is on an intensive e-governance drive. MLA P B Abdul Razak on Tuesday inaugurated the programme at Panchayat office. Panchayat secretary P Mohammed Nisar made a power point presentation on the road map to e-governance.

Now birth and death certificates from 2000 onwards are available from the site www.cr.lsgkerala.gov.in. But one has to give details such as the name of the child, date of birth and first three letters of the name of mother. The printout taken without signature is accepted as official document in schools for admission, taluk supply office for name entry in ration card, passport offices, said the officials.

The certificates from 1970 to 1999 will be available within a month. Marriage Registration from 2010 onwards is now available at the site. The officials said previous entries will be made available before July 31, 2011.

The details relating to building numbers, owner's name and tax payable relating to the panchayat are available on the site www.tax.lsgkerala.gov.in.

All notifications of the Panchayat will be available on the Panchayat site www.lsgkerala.in/manjeshwarpanchayat.

An information kiosk with touch screen facility will be installed at the Panchayat front office in September 2011 in which details of all services of the Gram Panchayat can be accessed by the public. The software used were developed and supported by the Information Kerala Mission.

Mysuru, Feb 14: Two weeks after her engagement with another boy, a 20-year-old girl who was in love with a boy, committed suicide at her residence in Nanjangud on Wednesday.

Meghana's parents have accused her lover Manikanta of Hemmargala of abetting her suicide. The girl's father in his complaint has claimed that Manikanta threatened to send their photos to her fiance following which she took the extreme step. He has also claimed his daughter was molested by Manikanta two years ago.

Manikanta who is on the run has been booked for rape and abetting suicide following the complaint.

Since the girl was from the SC community, cops have also slapped cases under Atrocities (Prevention) Act against Manikanta. Nanjangud sub-division DSP Prabhkar Rao Shinde will investigate the case as charges have been made under provisions of the act.

Mangaluru, Jan 18: The Dakshina Kannada District Karavali Utsava Samiti has chosen senior Journalist and Assistant Editor on Udayavani Daily Manohar Prasad for the Karavali Gaurava Prashasti 2019-20.

The award will be presented to Manohar Prasad in recognition of his contribution in the field of Journalism.

He will be given the award during the valedictory of the Karavali Utsav at Panambur beach on January 19.

Hassan, Jul 16: In fresh incident of cast killing, a Dalit youth in Alur taluk of Hassan district was shot dead yesterday by the relatives of the girl with whom he was in love. 

The deceased identified as Madhu, a 30-year-old resident of Soppinahalli village. He had taken a 25-year-old girl with him and was planning to marry her after taking her family into confidence.  

The relatives of the girl, who belong to upper caste, claimed that Madhu had kidnapped the daughter of one Ramesh of the same village. The girl's uncle Rupesh had waylaid Madhu when he was on the way to the field and shot at him. 

The body of the deceased as been shifted to a mortuary. The accused Rupesh has gone absconding. Sources said that the family of Ramesh has strongly opposed the inter-caste marriage.
