Riyadh fire mishap: Kundapur man's body brought back home, buried

Mangalore, July 13: The mortal remains of Muhammad, who was among the six Indians killed in a fire mishap occurred 11 days ago in Riyadh, the capital city of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has been brought home to his family in Padukere of Kota village in Kundapur taluk, of Udupi district.

A total of seven people had died in the tragedy that occurred in a residential room in the upper part of Al-Suvailin Supermarket in Bathha area of the capital in the wee hours of July 2.

Mohammad's elder brother Rahman said that the family members performed final rites overnight at the graveyard of Padukere Juma Masjid, as the body reached home at around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

A flight carrying the mortal remains of all six Indian victims of the fire mishap landed at Calicut International Airport on Tuesday evening. An ambulance brought the body of Muhammad home from Calicut.

Excluding Mohammad, five other Indian victims were Keralites.

Son of Late Abdullah alias Annunji Saheb and Late Khatheejabi couple, 46 year old Muhammad was working in Saudi Arabia for past eight years. He is survived by his wife Aishamma, son Junaid, a PUC student, daughter Yasmeen, a class-X student, six brothers, three sisters and a large number of relatives and friends.

Family sources of Muhammad expressed gratitude for the members of 'India Fraternity Forum' in Saudi Arabia for helping to dispatch the body as soon as possible.

Mysuru, Apr 25: Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has converted one of its buses into a clinic in Mysuru to treat COVID-19 patients.

The mobile fever clinic has a bed for the patient and a cabin for doctor.

There is also a seating facility, medicine box, washing basin, sanitizer, soap oil, a separate water facility and fans.
According to the KSRTC, the cost of this clinic construction on a bus is Rs 50,000.

Meanwhile, 15 new positive cases were reported in the state. So far, 489 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed, including 18 deaths and 153 discharges in the state.

Mangaluru, Jul 23: A nurse who was serving as a frontline COVID warrior at the Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru and has recently tested positive along with her 7-year-old son has complained to the Deputy Commissioner against the harassment meted out by some miscreants who have been spreading false rumours against her.

Health official said that some people in her area have given false complaints against her to government officials thus inflicting mental torture on her and her family.

In her letter, the nurse has stated that the attitude of the people forcing her to consider quitting the job. "I have served the people by treating my work as worship. Anti-social elements have been torturing me now. I am very much hurt," the she said. 

The nurse’s house at Moodbidri has been sealed after she was tested positive. However, her husband and younger child were tested negative.

Mangaluru, Jul 10: Among over a hundred special flights to be operated between India and United Arab Emirates under the fourth phase of Vande Bharat Mission, five flights will be operated from Mangaluru International Airport.

The repatriation flights are also allowed to carry eligible passengers from India to UAE between July 12 and July 26.

These flights will be allowed to carry the ICA approved UAE residents on their onward journey from India to the Gulf country.

According to Air India, while flying from India to UAE, these special flights will carry only those passengers who are destined for the UAE.

Flights from Mangaluru

From Mangaluru, the first special flight will take off on July 13 at 7.30 am and reach Sharjah at 9.30 am.

The second flight is scheduled to take off on July 16 at 9.30 am and reach Dubai airport at 11.20 am.

The third flight will take off on July 19 at 11.00 am and land at Sharjah airport at 1.00 pm.

The fourth flight will take off on July 20 at 7.30 am and reach Sharjah at 9.30 am.

The fifth flight will take off on July 26 at 8.00 am and land at Abu Dhabi Airport at 10.20 am.
