Lokayukta raid on Range Forest Officer's house unearths assets worth several lakh rupees

Mangalore, July 22: In a major raid, the Dakshina Kannada Lokayukta unearthed property worth several lakhs of rupees from the residence of Raghav Patali, posted as Range Forest Officer at Venur in Belthngady taluk.

Lokayukta Superintendent of Police D S Jagamayya informed that the raid was carried out as part of statewide operation on Friday.

In the early morning raid, a team led by Lokayukta Inspector Uday M Nayak recovered huge amount of illegal properties including a cash amount of over Rs 24 lakh, silver and gold worth nearly Rs 7 lakh.

The sleuths also seized three vehicles from the officer's residence including a Maruti 800 car, an Alto car and a Scooty.

However during the raid, Patali was in his office near Beltangady. He is expected to be grilled by the officials in connection with illegal properties.

Apr 21: An 80-year-old COVID-19 patient has died in Karnataka's Kalaburagi district, taking the death toll in the state to 17, Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar said on Tuesday.

The elderly person was suffering from Parkinson's disease for the last three years and died at a hospital on Monday, the minister said in a tweet.

"The person had developed fever on Sunday and was admitted to the hospital. The patient passed away yesterday at 9 am. Last night at 9 pm the death report came, which confirmed that the person was COVID-19 positive," Sudhakar tweeted.

The total number of COVID-19 infections in the state has crossed the 400-mark, according to last evening's bulletin by the Karnataka health department.

Belgaum, May 6: A police constable engaged in security duty at the Belgaum District Collector's bungalow committed suicide by shooting himself on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Prakash Gurvannavar (32) who was a native of Ambadgatti village in Kittur taluka in the Belgaum district.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Commissioner of Police Lokesh Kumar rushed to the spot.

Further investigation is underway.

Bengaluru, Mar 10: Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu on Tuesday paid a surprise visit to the Kempegowda International Airport and checked all measures taken by authorities and doctors to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Till date, 45 people have tested positive for the deadly coronavirus infection across India.

A resident of Bengaluru was tested positive for coronavirus on Monday.
