Mijar Temple gears up for Cross Country Monsoon Marathon

Mangalore, July 23: Shasthavu Sri Bhoothanatheshawara Temple, Badaga Yedapadavu, Mijar near here will be organising the Sri Bhoothanatheshwara Cross Country Monsoon Marathon with a cash prize totaling over Rs 7 lakh on August 15.

The sandalwood stars Pooja Gandhi, Neethu and Shivadhwaj will take part in the event.

Addressing the media persons here on Saturday Vijaynath Vittal Shetty, the Chief Coordinator of the event said the marathon would be conducted in the Temple's neighbourhood.

He said separate events would be held for men and women in eight categories namely Professional Half Marathon for all ages (21kms), Professional Half Marathon for children below 16 years (6kms), Halli Marathon for children below 14 years (4kms), for children 14 to 16 years (6kms) and for 16 to 50 years (10kms), District level Halli Marathon for 16 to 50 years (10 kms), senior citizens Marathon for 50 to 60 years (10kms) and above 60 years (6kms).

He said that the multiple prizes for all categories will be distributed while the highest prize Rs 50,000 will be given for the first prize winner of Professionals Half Marathon.

Bengaluru, Feb 27: About 60kg of unaccounted gold ornaments worth Rs. 21 crore were unearthed by officers of the Commercial Taxes Department of Karnataka Government.

The ornaments were recovered after the department conducted surprise inspections and raided business premises of wholesale jewellery dealers in Ranganatha Mansion and Sakalajee Market in Chickpet area of Bengaluru on Tuesday.

"The raid was based on information that many traders from other states visit the city and carry gold jewels without any valid documents and supply it to local jewellers without invoices," said Srikar MS Commissioner of Commercial Taxes in a statement.

The officers raided the premises of 23 jewellers and found 60 kg gold ornaments in stock which were not covered by valid documents. A penalty was levied on the undocumented ornaments.

"It is informed that the enforcement wing is keeping a close watch on the interstate movement of gold, silver and all the dealers in the state are hereby advised not to buy any goods without valid purchase invoices, added Srikar MS.

Bengaluru, May 8: Karnataka Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar along with Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday visited Kempegowda International airport for inspection of the screening facility as over 10,000 people from Karnataka stranded in other countries are scheduled to arrive in the state. 

Sudhakar said all safety measures have been taken for the screening and quarantine of all passengers in hotels, hostels, and school buildings.

He appealed to local residents not to panic as adequate safety measures are being taken to prevent any spread of COVID-19 infection.

Mysuru, Jan 21: South Indian actor Rashmika Mandanna, whose house was raided recently by IT sleuths, appeared for an inquiry along with her father Mr Madan Mandanna, here on Tuesday.

She arrived at the office of Principal Commissioner for IT, at Nazarbad, in the city. She was accompanied by nine persons, including auditors and accountants, who carried two backpacks and a kitbag.

Mr Madan mandanna said, "the IT officials have sought some documents and we are here to submit them."
