Speaking at the general meeting of Mangalore Taluk Panchayat, here on Tuesday, he said all the necessary things for Taluk offices including computers and printers were provided for this purpose. “The process of issuing the cards would be completed within one or one-and-half months”, he said.

He said that 61.53 acres of lands have been newly identified in 17 villages among 49 Gram Panchayats in Mangalore taluk, in order to distribute among site-less. The villages were Bajpe, Moodushedde, Badaga Ekkaru, Thenka Ekkaru, Aikala, Elinje, Bellayaru, Thokoor, Kuppepadav, Kolavoor, Muthur, Muchur, Kilenjaru, Kompadav, Mallur, Edapadav, Konaje.

He said that he had directed the Revenue Inspectors and Village Accountants to give a detailed report after identifying the available government sites and 'Kumki' sites in 19 villages.

When one of the members asked whether the reserved land of Survey No.33 under Ulaibettu Gram Panchayat, was the same land, for which once title deeds were granted, 15 years ago under Navgram scheme. Tahasildar replied that if the beneficiaries do not construct house within three years of issuance of title deeds, it will be violation of Act.

Title deeds

Mr Nayak said title deeds for 1935 beneficiaries have been sanctioned under City limits; of them 1816 beneficiaries have already received their title deeds. Yet 119 title deeds are pending as the beneficiaries did not pay land value, he said.

The 228 and 1769 title deeds under Municipal limits and rural areas have been issued respectively for all the beneficiaries.

He also confirmed that no applications of title deeds, in Moodbidri Hobli which have applied according to Section 94 (c) of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act 1964, are pending.

Bengaluru, May 2: Former chief minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah have urged the state government to arrange free-transport facilities to those stranded labourers and their family members to return their native places.

In a statement issued here on Friday, the former chief minister criticised the State Government for having decided to collect bur fare from them, ''three-times more than the regular fare''.

Stating that the migrant labourers, who had been stranded ever since lockdown had been clamped in the entire country are not in a position to pay for their travel, Siddaramaiah urged the state government to treat them with human face.
