Ayisha's husband Sulaiman, a resident of Kadambu, Perne has escaped after the incident.

Daughter of Ahmed Kunhi of Shanthibettu in Koukrady village, Ayisha had visited her husband's sister Mariyamma's house on Monday along with her child and husband.

On Tuesday morning, local people heard a man's screams from the bank of rivulet. When they rushed to the spot to find out what had happened, they saw Sulaiman shouting hysterically in front of his wife's dead body, “My beloved wife died falling in to the rivulet.” When, more people started to gather, Sulaiman ran away leaving behind the dead body, saying that he can't live without her and will commit suicide.

Sulaiman, who was working in Taif in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had returned nearly two months ago.

Sources said that the people, who gathered near the rivulet, noticed severe injury marks on forehead, cheek and head of the dead body. The injuries were indicating that somebody might have dumped the body into rivulet after beating her to death.

'Dowry harassment'

Meanwhile, Ayisha's father has lodged a complaint with Uppinangady police station, accusing that the family members of Sulaiman including his mother and sisters used to torture Ayisha demanding to bring more dowry.

The complainant has mentioned that they had given 35 pawan gold and a cash amount of Rs 1 lakh as dowry to Sulaiman during the marriage in October 2007.
