Mangalore, August 9: Dakshina Kannada district has received a total rainfall of 2.672.6 mm since January, official sources have confirmed.
Compared to previous year's average rainfall of 2,412.5 mm, the district received good rains this year.
The total loss caused to the public property such as roads, bridges, MESCOM's power infrastructure and government buildings due to the rains was estimated at Rs 21.30 crore.
The district administration had paid a compensation of Rs 8.80 lakh to owners of 368 houses damaged during the rains since April.
As many as 61 houses were completely damaged and district administration had paid Rs 2.63 lakh as compensation.
Compensations also had been paid to the families of four victims, who were struck by lightning.
