Assault on cattle trader; police nab one

Mangalore, August 20: Hiriyadka police have arrested a man in connection with the brutal assault on a cattle trader and his two assistants in Kananjarar village.
The arrested Jitendra Shetty, a resident of Kananjar, was produced before a court on Friday, which remanded him to judicial custody till September 2.
It is said that around 10 miscreants had involved in assault. The hunt is on to nab the remaining accused, who are absconding after the incident.
Cattle trader Umarabba (50), a resident of Kalathur village in Kaup, Ibrahim, (38), a resident of Chandragiri in Janatha colony in the same village and Ranjit (17), from Shirva have been brutally beaten up by a gang in the wee hours of Thursday.

Udupi, May 24: Three among the 18 coronavirus positive cases reported in Udupi district today were policemen. 

A police constable of Karkala Rural Police Station and ASI of Ajekar Police Station were tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday and authorities have taken steps to seal the Police Stations they were working. A policeman from Brahmavar police station also tested positive.

The district administration reported seal Karkala Rural Police station, Ajekar Police Station, and Brahmavar Police Station. Apart from them Karkala Town Station and Circle station are being sealed. All the policemen and policewomen working in these five stations will be quarantined.

Superintendent of Police N Vishnuvardha said that ''all the primary contacts of the police officers who were tested positive will undergo screening and their swabs will be collected and sent to Lab for test.''

Hassan, Feb 9: Accusing the Centre for treating Karnataka as its enemy Former Minister and Congress leader UT Khader on Saturday said that the state did not get support from the Centre on the Mahadayi issue and flood relief and even the Union Budget.

Speaking to the media here, he said that the state has elected 25 BJP Lok Sabha members. Three from the state were Ministers in the Union Cabinet and another MP has been appointed president of the party’s state unit.

'None of them have spoken about the injustice done to the state in the budget. The budget document announced Rs 18,600 crore for the suburban railway in Bengaluru. But, ultimately the amount earmarked for the project is only Rs 1 crore. How can any BJP leader justify this?', the Congress leader wondered.

Bengaluru, May 4: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has said that the free bus service for migrant workers has been extended by two days in the state.
 
The service was supposed to end on Tuesday, but it has now been extended till Thursday.
 
The Chief Minister has appealed to workers and other people that they can return to their hometowns without having to gather in large numbers at bus stops.
 
He said, "951 KSRTC buses on Sunday were provided in the state for the travel of migrants. About 1,500 passengers have already gone in 50 busses."
 
On Saturday, an estimated 16,500 passengers in 550 buses left for their homes.
 
On Monday two trains will leave for Rajasthan and Bihar, the Chief Minister said.
 
He said in a press release that everyone will be provided with free meals and water before the journey.
