Karwar, September 9: Condemning the bomb blast at gate number 5 of Delhi High Court, in which twelve persons were killed and several others were injured, advocates abstained from court works on Friday.
In a memorandum, addressed to the Prime Minister of India and submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, the protesting lawyers demanded security upgradation for local courts including District Court in Karwar.
The memorandum stated that Karwar needs special security arrangements as the district has very sensitive projects like Kaiga Atomic station and Seabird naval base.
Karwar Bar Association President R S Hegde Gali, Secretary S G Salunke and Treasurers A B Mahekar among those advocates who staged a protest in front of the district court complex.
