Exhibition to 'focus' on wild life

Mangalore, October 1: As part of the World Wildlife Week celebration, 'Focus', an exhibition of wildlife photography, by upcoming talent Raghavendra Kodangala, has been organised under the auspices of 'Banna', an organisation for Art and Culture, at Modern Building, Shiribeedu, Udupi, from Oct 3 to 5.

Noted Environmentalist Dr NA Madhyastha and renowned photographer Gurudath Kamath will be the chief guests at the inauguration function to be held on Monday at 11.30 am.

Asmany as 35 photographs clicked by Raghavendra, in Kajiranga of Assam, Todoba of Maharastra, Bandipura, Ranganathittu and other parts of Karnataka will be at the display.

Exhibition will remain open for public from 10 am to 6 pm, said a press release.

Maddur, Feb 7: Two daily wage workers were buried alive after a heap of mud collapsed on them near the Agriculture Department office on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway, in Maddur of Mandya district on Thursday night, police said on Friday.

Police said that the deceased, Kashinath (37), and Rajgandh (30), were working at a site of the ongoing Bengaluru-mysuru highway development project.

Bengaluru, Jun 30: Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday demanded setting up of an all-party committee to monitor treatment-related issues in hospitals and said there are allegations of "corruption and nepotism" in the management of COVID-19 treatment.

Siddaramaiah said in a tweet that Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa should immediately form all-party monitoring committee.

"This is very much needed to increase public confidence in the backdrop of several complaints," he said.
"There are allegations of corruption and nepotism in the management of COVID-19 treatment. It is need of the hour to manage this unprecedented health crisis with public safety as the only objective," he said in another tweet.

He urged the Chief Minister to make the treatment protocol clear to the patients and instil hope. "Do not keep them in dark," he said.

The senior Congress leader also urged the Chief Minister to extend insurance and other benefits to private hospital doctors, nurses and support staff.
Karnataka has reported a total of 14,295 COVID-19 cases.

Bengaluru, May 1: Former underworld don and real-estate baron Muthappa Rai was admitted to Manipal hospital in Bengaluru on Thursday.

As per sources, Muttappa Rai’s condition is said to be serious.

Muthappa Rai was diagnosed with brain cancer two years ago and had undergone treatment at hospitals in New Delhi, Chennai and Bengaluru.
