Kundapur, October 7: Well-known Ayurvedic Pandit Dr. Karunakar Nambiyar died following a major heart attack on Tuesday. He was 86.
He is survived by his wife, two sons including Kundapur reporter Dr. Sudhakar Nambiyar and a daughter.
Kerala based Dr. Nambiyar was well-known for his Ayurvedic medicines in Koteshwara surroundings for more than five decades.
Many social religious groups have honoured him. Local people paid respect to the Dr Nambiyar by voluntarily closing their shops for a day.
Mangaluru, Mar 30: Indira Canteens and Kadiri Manjunatha Temple here have started distributing food packets to the poor, stranded labours, destitute and needy in the wake of the COVID-19 lockdown.
''We have prepared over 2,000 food packets in the morning. The same number will be prepared in the afternoon and night for distribution," said Prabhakar Shetty from Indira canteen at Urwastore in Mangaluru on Monday.
"The MCC teams come and collect food for distribution among the poor, beggars and destitute," he added.
Bengaluru, Apr 1: After fake sanitisers and masks, Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have busted another racket and seized fake thermometers worth Rs 8 lakh, it said in a statement on Wednesday.
Based on credible information, police conducted the raid on Prajval Surgical and Scientific store located on the first floor of a commercial building in the first block, Rajajinagar. They arrested store manager Keshavan N, 32, a resident of Kurubarahalli.
The police have seized 70 fake infrared forehead thermometers and 60 batteries used in these thermometers. They were worth around Rs 8 lakh as per the price they charged customers for each thermometer.
Mangaluru, Feb 14: Police have submitted over 50 videos in a pen drive to Udupi Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha as evidence to violent protests that led to police firing on December 19 in which Jaleel and Nausheen died.
ACP and police nodal officer Belliyappa submitted a pen drive consisting over 50 video clips including CCTV footage.
The police earlier had submitted 20 digital video recorder (DVR) before the court and an acknowledgement of the same was produced before the Magistrate.
Hearing on video evidence will be held at High Court on February 24.
