Kasaragod, October 12: Three people were crushed to death under the trains in three separate accidents reported in the Kasaragod district.

A 40-year-old sojourner died on tracks at Manjeshwara. It is assumed that he might have been knocked down by a speeding train last night.

In Bandyodi, an unidentified man, aged around 35 years, was killed in another the train accident. His head is separated from the body. Police are trying to identify the victim, who was wearing a black striped shirt.


In another similar case reported in Kumbale, a train knocked down a 26-year-old man identified as Seethangoli Puthige Ravi, a construction worker. The incident which came to light in the morning, is assumed to be occurred last night.

Bengaluru, Mar 28: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Govind Karjol on Ssturday said the coronavirus epidemic has reached the third phase and cautioned people defying the lockdown orders.

"Today the coronavirus epidemic has entered the third phase. By and large people are cooperating," he told reporters at Bagalkote.

The deputy chief minister said there were some people defying the lockdown orders by roaming in groups without wearing masks.

He said he has directed the district authorities to take stringent action against them.

Karjol also said the government has taken adequate measures for the treatment and prevention of this disease.

Steps have been taken for door-to-door supply of grocery items in Bagalkote, he added.

Mangaluru, Jul 20:  Ananthapadmanabha temple at Kudupu on the outskirts of Mangaluru will be closed for devotees on the occasion of Nagara Panchami on July 25 due to Covid-19.

Ananthapadmanabha temple at Kudupu is one of the famous temples in Dakshina Kannada dedicated to Naga (Serpent God) where Nagara Panchami is celebrated in a grand way.  The temple committee said that "Nagara Panchami will be observed on July 25. To avoid large gatherings, the entry of devotees is banned. The devotees should not visit the temple, thereby extend cooperation with the temple committee."

On the day of Nagara Panchami, no sevas, theertha and prasadam will be distributed. There will be no mass feeding as well.

Udupi, July 18 A 15-year-old boy lost his life due to electrocution after he came in contact with a live wire last evening near his house at Laxminagar under the limits of Malpe police station in Udupi. 

The deceased has been identified as Gautham (15), son of Manjunath Naiak, a resident of Laxminagar.  

Police sources said, the electrocution occurred while he was lifting a pump set from the well at his neighbour’s house. He died on the spot. 

A case has been registered at Malpe Police Station and investigation is on.

Gautham had recently appeared for SSLC examinations.
