Udupi, October 17: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Dr G Parameshwar informed that congress leaders will meet Governor H R Bhardhwaj at the earliest demanding dissolution of state government as most of the ministers in the cabinet are facing charges of corruption and criminal misconduct.

Speaking to the media persons here on Sunday he said that if Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has any respect for democracy and constitution then he should resign and dissolve the assembly to seek fresh mandate from the people, as 75 percent of his cabinet colleagues are party to all wrong decisions taken by the former chief minister Yeddyurappa who has been arrested for his involvement in land scam.

He said at least 14 ministers of Yeddyurappa ministry who are continuing in the current cabinet are involved in criminal misconduct. Ministers R Ashok, Yogeshwar, Renukacharya, Somanna and even state party chief K S Eshwarappa are facing corruption and cheating charges against whom complaints have been lodged, he alleged and added that Fisheries Minister Vasanth Asnotikar is alleged to be involved in fraud case involving nearly Rs 100 crore.

Denying the charges that the congress party has celebrated after the pronouncement of arrest warrant of Yeddyurappa, Parameshwar clarified that Congress party has not celebrated the arrest of the former chief minister.

“It is not an issue for celebration. But the party is of the strong opinion that the verdict of arrest warrant against Yeddyurappa by the court is triumph of truth and it is also a strong warning for those in public life irrespective of party affiliation that they cannot escape from law if they have done anything against the law,” he said.

Power crisis

He said that state government has failed to overcome power crisis too. “Contrary to the charges made by the government, the centre has released about 800 MW power besides supplying 70 per cent of the required coal for the power plants.

If government is really serious on the power situation, it should take an all party delegation to the centre to meet Prime Minister and Union Power minister to discuss and bring pressure on them to extend all required assistance in this direction. However this government has no confidence on the opposition parties,” he said.Referring to the draught situation in the state, he alleged that state government has not made any representation to the centre seeking help.

Replying to a query on the statement made by BJP state president K S Eshwarappa against congress leaders' involvement in illegal mining scam, Parameshwar said the congress party's stand is clear in this regard. It is still demanding CBI probe into the issue. If any of his party leaders are found guilty after the probe, the party will not oppose action against such guilty leaders, he added.

Bengaluru, May 24: In an effort to protect passengers and staff from the risk of COVID-19 transmission, the Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has introduced a parking-to-boarding contactless journey at the airport.

With a greater emphasis on minimum touch and minimum exposure between passengers and airport personnel, BIAL aims to minimise all physical contact at the airport. The technology will continue to enable a seamless airport journey, with greater emphasis on health and safety.

"As the gateway to a new India, BLR Airport has a key role to play in helping passengers through this global health crisis by reassuring them that their safety is our top priority. We have introduced innovative contactless procedures to minimise exposure at the airport," said Hari Marar, MD and CEO, BIAL.

"These enhancements demonstrate our continued commitment to keep our passengers safe in this environment. We believe our new measures will boost confidence among passengers," continued Marar.

"BLR Airport is all geared up to welcome our passengers back and - working with various government departments - we're committed to offering them a safe experience by implementing the best-in-class standards, procedures and practices," Marar added.

Earlier, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that domestic flight operations will resume from May 25 noting that all airlines and airports were ready but it is not viable to keep the middle seat vacant as it will lead to hike in the ticket price and prescribed social distancing norms would still not be met.
