Mangalore, October 24: Miscreants broke into a house and decamped with gold jewelleries worth rupees several lakh in the wee hours of Monday at K C Road near Ullal on the outskirts of the city.
The thieves gained entry into 'Mubarak Manzil' belonging to one Naushad and made away with 62 pawan gold jewelleries. The total value of the stolen ornaments is estimated at Rs 12 lakh.
It is learnt that there was no one at the house during the theft. The house owner Naushad had been to his in-law's house in Moodbidri on Sunday.
The incident came to light around 3:30 am, when Naushad's younger brother reached home. The back door of the house was broken.
He immediately called his brother, and informed police too. A case has been registered at Ullal police station.
