Chaminada Vaas in Mangalore; Unveils trophy of T20 Cricket tourney

Mangalore, October, 29: Chaminda Vaas, a legend in the world of cricket and an expert Sri Lankan all-rounder, on Saturday was in the city to announce the 'Chaminda Vaas Benefit T20 Cricket Cup – 2011', which will be held on November under the ages of Covenant of Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).

The Sri Lankan team will be coming to the city to play one day T20 Cricket match with local team at NMPT Grounds. According to the organisers, one of the intentions of promoting cricket in coastal districts of Karnatka.

Speaking after unveiling the trophy at a press conference at the Hotel Ocean Pearl, here, Mr Vas said that the event would create a festive atmosphere in the city with the IPL format.

Replying to the questions of reporters, Mr Vass said that he would play for few more years in county cricket before turning to coaching field. He said that youngsters should get an opportunity to play at international level.

Refusing to comment on Kumar Sangakkara's remark, where he had said that mismanagement in Sri Lankan Cricket Board has cost a lot to the game in the land (Sri Lanka) and the game was not developed in a right manner, Mr was said: “My duty is to obey the Board”.

In a slight admiration of the Indian cricket and cricketers, he said that Indian Premier League is good opportunity for players.

He said that Sachin Tendulkar was the one, who most troubled him on the ground and youngsters like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and Robin Uthappa are also promising players.

He opined that depending more on technologies in making decisions was worth.

Mr Vas said Test form of cricket was the most important for a player and as a cricketer one should be ready to play all three forms of cricket.

He said that fast bowlers have to sacrifice many things and they should concentrate on fitness.

Mr Vaas stressed on the importance of a separate bowling coach since fast bowlers in sub-continent teams are not able to get wickets.

He said that young cricketers should learn from senior players, like Muthaih Mularidharan, who bagged maximum number of wickets in international cricket.

Replying to a query whether he would enter politics, he said that he desires to serve the society being a non-politician as he is not interested in the politics.

Sudhir Ghate, chairman of Magnum Infografiks Pvt Limited, Dr Srikant Rai, DKCA president, and Joseph Rego were also present in the press meet.

Puttur, Jan 4: As many as 27 passengers travelling in a private bus escaped with minor injuries after it toppled and fell into a roadside trench at Amai near Perne on Mangaluru-Bengaluru national highway last night, police said on Saturday.

Police said that the driver of the Bengaluru-bond bus lost control over the vehicle while traversing through the narrow bridge at Amai.

The bus was damaged in the mishap.

this is one of the important case that now seen to be increasing these days.  and one of the most problem that is faced and had has to be found a solution is overspeeding by bus driving which have resulted in enomours numbers of accidents with negligence of passengers lifes inside the bus.  passengers safety and lifes are not given value anymore. and another important factor is overspeeding in humps  which have resulted in backbone injuries in high number of passengers

Bengaluru, Apr 30: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, has directed the Bengaluru City Police to return all the vehicles, which were seized during the Coronavirus Lockdown period, for having flouted rules.

The City Police Commissioner, Bhaskar Rao, informed that it was decided to return the seized vehicles to the owners, after verifying documents.

He said that the vehicles had been seized while enforcing strict guidelines, issued to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, in the city.

Bengaluru, Feb 24: Wanted gangster Ravi Poojary, who was arrested in South Africa and brought to India, was on Monday sent to police custody till March 7 by a Bengaluru court.

First Additional City Magistrate V Jagdish, while sending Pujari to police custody, said that there should be no interference in the investigations.

The court also asked the police to record video and audio of the interrogation process.

Poojary, who was wanted in over 200 cases of serious crime including murder and extortion, was brought to India by a team of senior officials and arrived at the Kempegowda International Airport here.

Pujari was extradited from Senegal on February 22 pursuant to an extradition request made by India in early 2019.

"He is physically fit. Questioning will begin from tomorrow. He is supporting our investigation and answering questions," Additional Director-General of Police Amar Kumar Pandey told reporters here earlier today.

Poojary, who parted ways with underworld don Chhota Rajan had jumped bail after he was arrested in Senegal in 2019 and had escaped to South Africa, where he was involved in drug trafficking and extortion.

According to sources in the Indian intelligence, Ravi Pujari was hiding with a false identity of Anthony Fernandes, a Burkina Faso passport holder, in a remote village in South Africa.
