Sixth all India CBWO conference on Monday

Mangalore, November 6: The sixth all India Conference of Corporation Bank Worker's Organisation (CBWO) which is affiliated to National Organisation of Bank Worker's and Bharathiya Mazdoor Sangh, will be held on Monday, November 7 at Hotel Taj Mahal in the city said R Ramnath Kini, General Secretary, CBWO.

Addressing media persons on Sunday, Mr Kini said that delegates from all over India would attend the conference, which would be inaugurated at 10:30 am by BR Bhat, General Manager, Corporation Bank.

Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament, Mangalore, Krishna J Palemar, District In-charge Minister, Dakshina Kannada, and N Yogesh Bhat, Deputy Speaker, Karnataka State Legislative Assembly will be the chief guests, he informed.

Ashwani Rana, General Secretary, National Organization of Bank Workers (NOBW) will preside over the function. CG Pinto, General Manager, Corporation Bank will be the guest of honour.

Mr Kini said that all the major demands of the union would be discussed in the conference and accordingly resolutions will be passed.

Bengaluru, May 24: Karnataka has conducted 2.03 lakh tests across the 57 Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) COVID-19 testing labs till Sunday morning, said the state Minister of Medical Education Dr K Sudhakar.

He informed that the state has doubled the number of tests in just 16 days after clocking 1 lakh tests on May 8.

"After clocking 1 lakh tests on May 8, we have doubled the number of tests in just 16 days. As on this morning, we conducted 2.03 lakh tests across our 57 ICMR COVID-19 testing labs. I congratulate doctors and lab technicians on this achievement," Sudhakar tweeted.

As many as 1,743 people have been detected positive for coronavirus in the state, of which 597 have been cured and discharged and 41 have succumbed to the infection, as per the Union Health Ministry.

Udupi, Feb 11: In a tragic incident, a 62-year-old man from Chennai died of drowning in Sri Krishna Mutt’s Madhwa Sarovar (pond) during the wee hours of Tuesday.

Police said the deceased has been identified as Capt G Sridharan.

It is suspected that Sridharan accidentally fell into the holy pond while taking a bath. The incident is said to have occurred around 4 a.m.

Mangaluru, Apr 12: A 70-year-old woman who tested positive for COVID-19 got discharged from a hospital here on Sunday after she recovered from the novel coronavirus, said Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, Sindu B Rupesh.

Seven other patients have also recovered and discharged in Dakshina Kannada till date. Total number of active cases in the district has decreased to 5 now.

As many as 232 COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Karnataka till date.

The total number of coronavirus cases in India on Sunday climbed to 8447, including 764 cured and discharged, 1 migrated and 273 deaths, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
