Mangalore, November 28: Four drug peddlers were arrested and brown sugar worth Rs 1 crore in the international market recovered from their possession by the personnel of District Intelligence and Crime Bureau (DCIB).
Acting on a tip off, the DCBI team carried out a raid on Mani-Mysore state highway near Kavu Bus Stop in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada district on Sunday night and arrested four youth, sources said.
The accused have been identified as Milan (23) from Jagalur in Davanagere district, Sanat Kumara Nayak from Koodlu in Kasargod, Aneesh (28) from Nullippadi in Kasargod and Sanath K Seth (23) from Basaveshwara Nagara in Chitradurga district.
In the well planned operation, the police seized 1.5 kg brown sugar apart from mobile phones and some cash from the accused.
DCIB Inspector Vinay Nayak had led the operation. Further details are awaited.
