St. Agnes College holds workshop for science teachers

Mangalore, November 29: Department of Science Technology, St. Agnes College, Mangalore in association with Pilikula Regional Science Centre Society organised a workshop for science teachers in the College premises here on Tuesday November 29.

Addressing to the gathering Prof K V Rao, Director of Pilikula Regional Science Centre Society said, things are happening in figure tips and people need not to waste our precious time in this improved technological era.

“We had to collect bundles of papers, related documents when we were doing our research, but, now it is simple to gather information by sitting at home. In this period of transaction we should equip ourselves”, he said.

Physics and Chemistry subjects were the themes for the workshop, in which teachers from various schools and colleges took part.

Ahalya A, Head of the Department of Computer Science, Mariola C Pinto, Assistant Professor in Physics and Marina Lobo were the resource persons in the workshop.

Bengaluru, Aug 4: The heath condition of Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa who had tested positive for Covid-19 continues to be stable and he is currently asymptomatic, hospital source said.

Congress leader and former chief minister Siddaramaiah who too has tested positive for Covid-19, is suffering from high fever and is currently receiving treatment. He has been admitted at the Manipal hospital in Bengaluru.

"I request all those who had come in contact with me to check out for symptoms and to quarantine themselves," Siddaramaiah had said in a tweet.

Yediyurappa, is in the same hospital for treatment along with his daughter B Y Padmavati, who too tested positive for the virus on Monday.

Yediyurappa on Sunday night (2 August) had tweeted that, "I have tested positive for coronavirus. Whilst I am fine, I am being hospitalised as a precaution on the recommendation of doctors. I request those who have come in contact with me recently to be observant and exercise self quarantine.”

Bengaluru, Jul 19: Three legislators of the opposition Congress in Karnataka, including 2 MLAs and 1 MLC tested positive for coronavirus and are under treatment, a party official said on Saturday.

"Our Bailhongal MLA Mahantesh Koujalgi in Belagavi district and Humnabad MLA Rajashekhar Patil and his MLC brother Chandrashekhar Patil in Bidar district tested positive for the infection and are under treatment at designated hospitals," party spokesman Ravi Gowda told media persons in Bangaluru.

Koujalgi's swab sample was taken on Friday after he showed signs of illness and its result turned positive earlier in the day.

"As Koujalgi attended a review meeting at Bailhongal, about 20 officials who participated in the meeting have been home quarantined," said Gowda.

Koujalgi is the second lawmaker in the state's northwest region to test positive after BJP's Belagavi North assembly segment MLA Anik Benake tested positive for the virus on July 15.

"Patil brothers were in self quarantine after meeting BJP's Bidar Lok Sabha member Bhagwanth Khuba, who tested positive on Wednesday. Their tests also showed they were infected with the virus," Gowda said.

Congress MLC Sandesh Nagaraj, who tested positive on Friday, is under treatment at a private hospital in Mysuru.

Dakshina Kannada district Youth Congress president Mithun Rai is in institutional quarantine in Bengaluru after he tested positive for the infection.

Mangaluru, Apr 28: Trucks carrying fish loads from Kerala will not be allowed to enter Dakshina Kannada district as the authorities are not being able to control the rush in markets, state Fisheries Minister and district-in-charge Kota Srinivas Poojary said Monday.

The deputy commissioner has been instructed to restrict the entry of fish transport vehicles from outside the district forthwith, in view of the difficulty in maintaining social distancing at the markets identified in the district, the minister told reporters here.

The coastal district has to take more precautionary measures to fight COVID-19 as the number of positive cases have risen in the last couple of days, he said.
