Two pistols, 22 bullets and a car have been recovered from the accused. It is said that the seized car belonged to Anish Shetty, a newspaper distributer. Pistols are suspected to have been imported directly from Dubai.

Once a right hand of then underworld don Muttappa Rai, Malli is now actively involved in politics and social activities.

However, the old enmity between rival underworld gangs has continued to haunt Malli, even after breaking relationship with Rai.

The arrested trio is being produced before a local court in Udupi on Sunday.

According to police all the three arrested have a criminal background and various cases of murder, rape etc. have been already registered in different police station against them.

Balakrishna Sherighar, who is said to be mastermind of the foiled murder plot, was previously a member of Jayakarnataka Vedike.

He was allegedly involved in a kidnap case of a woman, along with a Sri Rama Sene leader. He is also an accused in robbery and rape cases. Similarly, cases of murder attempt have been registered against Deekshin Poojary at Barke and Kdri police stations, while separate murder and murder attempt cases have been registered against Shreyas at Barke and Urwa police stations in Mangalore.

Mysuru, May 15: The Temple Town of Nanjangud was till now treated as one unit or a Cluster Containment Zone and was put under complete lock-down as per the containment protocol listed under COVID-19 regulations and Disaster Management Act, 2005.

However on Friday, some of the restrictions have been lifted by Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar who permitted certain activities as no fresh positive cases were reported from the cluster area. The Cluster Containment Zone was declared on March 29 following one employee of Nanjangud-based Jubilant Generics tested positive for the killer Coronavirus. As there were chances of the positive person spreading the disease to other employees of the factory, the cluster rules were enforced. Moreover, there were over 1,000 employees in the Pharma Company and a majority of them lived in and around Nanjangud.

The declaration of Cluster Containment Zone with complete lock-down and quarantining of all the Pharma Company employees proved a success to the District Administration as whoever tested positive – over 73 were later tested positive — had already been quarantined and the dangerous community spread phase was successfully prevented. To a major extent, the Corona virus curve has been flattened. As such, restrictions have been relaxed a bit on Friday.

Bengaluru, Apr 10: Renowned ophthalmologist and Narayana Nethralaya Chairman Dr K Bhujang Shetty today advised those wearing contact lenses to switch to eyeglasses as a preventive measure.

“Though the facial mask is mandatory as a preventive measure against the dreaded Coronavirus, not many know that the virus can also enter the body through eyes. Wearing glasses or spectacles reduces the spread of the virus,” Dr Bhujang Shetty said.

Although it is more likely that people may catch Coronavirus infections through mouth and nose, there are chances of the virus also entering through eyes. “In a day, humans tend to touch their face and eyes almost 20 times an hour knowingly or unknowingly. Users of contact lenses end up touching their eyes and face frequently, increasing the risk of infections. Therefore, it is advisable that they switch to eyeglasses until the situation improves”, according to a release here on Friday.
