Free medical camp in city to mark Vajpayee birthday

Mangalore, December 13: BJP National Medical Wing will be organising a free medical camp for senior citizens on December 25 to mark the birthday of former Prime Minister and senior BJP leader A B Vajpayee at be Bharath Scouts and Guides Bhavan, Mannagudda, Mangalore.


Addressing the media persons here on Tuesday, Dr K Mohandas Bhandary, Working committee member, BJP National Medical Wing, said that free blood pressure, blood Sugar test, ECG and scanning tests will be organized in the camp.


The expert doctors including Dr Mukund, Dr Prasanna, Dr Mohan Pai, Dr Prashanth Marla,Dr Prasad Hegde, Dr Satish Rao, Dr Shrinivas Bhat, Dr Manjunath Shenoy, Dr k R Kamath, Dr Nitish M Bhandary, Dr Harish Rao, Dr Rithin Suvarna, Dr Prithvi Shetty, Dr Ajay Kudva, Dr Amrith Bhandary, Dr Rukma Kudva, Dr Annayya Kulal, Dr Vijay Murthy and Dr B R Bhat will be participating.


Nalin Kumar Kateel, Mangalore MP will inaugurate the camp at 8 am. Dr Mohan Das Bhandary himself will preside over the inaugural session.


Krishna J Palemar, District In charge Minister, Yogish Bhat, Deputy Speaker in State Assembly, Padmanabha Kottari , District BJP President, Monnappa Bhandary, District BJP Spokesperson, K N Alva, Engineer and builder, Dr P V Shenoy, Division co-ordinator, Mangalore will be the chief guests.

Bengaluru, Feb 27: A notorious history-sheeter named Slum Bharath was killed in an encounter with the police here in the wee hours of Thursday.

According to police, Bharath's associates attacked the police vehicle carrying him at around 2 am and fired two rounds at officers and police officials.

Bharath managed to flee with his associates in a car. 

He was later nabbed after the special team was informed at around 5 am that the accused's car was moving towards Hesaragatta near Soladevanahalli.

Bharath succumbed after he was shot by senior police officer Venkataramanappa who responded to his open firing. He was the prime accused in the murder of history-sheeter Srinivas alias Kulla Seena in 2006.

Mangaluru, May 12: The first repatriation flight to Mangaluru from Dubai with nearly 180 passengers landed at the international airport here. 

The total passengers, including 88 men, 84 women, five children and two infants arrived by the Air India Express flight IX 384 late Tuesday night, airport sources said.

There were 12 medical emergency cases and 38 pregnant women among them, they said. The district administration had made arrangements for receiving the passengers, who were provided with sanitizers and masks. They were advised to maintain social distancing as per the health protocol.

All the foreign returnees were screened as per the standard operating procedure to ensure that they were asymptomatic.

The passengers were taken to their chosen place of accommodation in KSRTC buses. They will be undergoing a 14-day quarantine in the places, which will be monitored by doctors assigned by the health department. More than 17 hotels and 12 hostels have been arranged for the accommodation of the returnees.

Passengers were also asked to download the mandatory 'Aroygya Sethu' app for contact tracing. Rahul Shinde IAS who is in charge of arranging quarantine facilities, airport director V V Rao and district health officer Ramachandra Bairy were present at the airport.

Udupi, Jan 5: The district administration has identified 460 beneficiaries who will be allotted flats at Herga under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, informed MLA Raghupati Bhat.

Speaking to reporters here on Sunday he said the Udupi Municipal Council will construct the apartments in the 8.22 acres of land earmarked for the purpose at Herga. The flats will be ready before April 2021.
