Mangalore chapter of Youth Against Corruption inaugurated

Mangalore, December 22: The Mangalore chapter of Youth Against Corruption (YAC) inaugurated at the Dr Shivaram Karanth Hall of University College here on Wednesday, December 21.

The organization aimed to create awareness against the corruption in the country.

Main demands of YAC are, the arrest of Union Home Minister P Chidambara in the 2G Spectrum scam, repatriation of black money stashed in tax havens abroad, introduction of Lok Pal Bill and reforms in various facets of administration to tackle corruption.

Dr R Balsubramanya, Chief of Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement Mysore inaugurated.

Speaking on the occasion he said that lack of stringent Act to curb the corruption was major reason for corruption in the country.

Stating that Karnataka state topped in corruption in the entire country Dr Balasubramanya said that every year State government releases Rs 30-40 crore for Mysore Dasara festivals, out of it only Rs 10-15 crore was spent and remaining amount is being misused.


Co-convener of YAC Swaron Raj, Deviprasad Shetty, Suvrathkumar and Ravichandra were present.

Mangaluru, Feb 7: To stop the NRC and CAA from being implemented everyone has to fight unitedly highlighting the failures of the ruling party, said National President of Priyadarshini squad, All India National Women’s Congress Kavya Narasimha Murthy.

Addressing the workshop for the protection of Citizenship against CAA, NRC and NPR for the party workers at the Cordel Hall, Kulshekar here Thursday by district Congress party, she said, “Protests are being held everywhere against the CAA, NRC and NPR but if we only go on protesting, the ruling party will implementing divisive policies and new laws every day.

Many think that they may not be affected by the CAA, NRC or NPR and keep away from protesting against it. The congress should fight against the CAA concentrating on three approaches. We cannot fight against divisive politics by fighting only against the CAA and NRC. We need to expose the government’s failures, their divisive politics and continue our protests against the CAA, NCR and NPR.”

Bengaluru, Apr 22:  Karnataka Women and Child Welfare Department has warned of action against those raising funds for Covid relief works, by using photos of children.

In a release here on Wednesday, the department said that several non-governmental organisations and voluntary groups were using the photographs of children to collect donations.

It has come to notice that several NGOs are using photos of children to raise donations to meet their food, health and other expenditure during the lockdown. However, this is against the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act," the Director of the ICDS scheme stated in a release.

Bengaluru, May 18: Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has called a meeting of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) to discuss various issues related to coronavirus and "failures" of the state government in tackling the outbreak.

The meeting, which will be held on May 19 at 4 pm, will also discuss packages announced by the central and state government, the amendment to the APMC Act by the state cabinet and the cancellation of various schemes including Mathrushree and Santhwana scheme.

Earlier, Siddaramaiah had alleged that the Centre and Karnataka government failed in containing the coronavirus spread despite having enough time for preparations.

Meanwhile, the ongoing nationwide lockdown has been extended till May 31.
