Congress demands ban on organisation for hoisting Pak flag
January 6, 2012
Mangalore, January 7: The State Government should ban the organisation that hoisted the Pakistan flag in Sindagi in Bijapur district on January 1, said B. Ramanath Rai, the Dakshina Kannada District Congress president here at a press meet.
As many as six Sri Rama Sene activists have been arrested by the police in connection with the incident.
Mr. Rai said the organisation with which the perpetrators of the latest crime were associated was involved in creating disharmony in the society. "They were trying to take political mileage out of acts that created religious disharmoney," Mr. Rais said.
Mr. Rai however stayed away from mentioning the name of Sri Ram Sene, with which the alleged suspects were associated.
On the recent Sullia incident, Mr. Rai said the action taken against the police was a disgrace to the democratic system. The State Government had taken disciplinary action against policemen from Sullia, including the Circle inspector and the Sub Inspector, following the complaint of highhandedness made by the BJP.
