Team Mangalore to take part in Dubai international kite fest

Mangalore, January 8: Team Mangalore, city based hobby group of kite flyers has been officially invited to the Dubai International Kite Festival to be held on January 12 and 13, 2012 at Dubai Outlet Mall, Dubai.

According to a press release, this unique Kite Festival is being organised for the first time in UAE. It will showcase some of the best kites flown b flyers of international fame around the world . Team Mangalore (India) a regular in International kite flying scene will be taking part in this prestigious event. A team of three members viz Sarvesh Rao, Arun Amin and Harish Kodiabail will participate in this mega event.

Kites of all shapes and sizes will be on display including some massive character and theme based kites. It would be an annual gathering of all the kite lovers in the Middle East. The Kite Festival will have workshops where people can learn everything from making kites to flying them.

Earlier, Team Mangalore had participated in various International Kite Festivals held at Canada, UK, France, Thailand, Korea and recently it had participated in the International Kite Festival held at Sri Lanka and its new creation 'Pushpaka Vimana' got accolades from the people of Sri Lanka.

Last year in Udaipur International Kite Festival the team had won the first place in the Unique Design Kite Category.

The team has also participated in the Kite festival held in connection with World Kannada Sammelana at Nanawadi, Belgaum last year and this year too the team has been invited to Belgaum International kite Festival.

The team is going to showcase their variety of kites which include Kathakkali, the largest kite in India and also various other kites such as yakshagaana, Durga, Charlie, Owl, Gajaraja, Pushpaka Vimana, Bird, Bat Series, Bharthnatyam etc.,

Now the team is all set to fly to Dubai to showcase cultural heritage of India on the shores of Arabian Gulf.

The team is determined to organise ONGC-MRPL International Kite Festival, 2012 on January 21 and 22, 2012 at Panambur Beach for the 4th consecutive time with continued support from ONGC and MRPL.

Dubai, Feb 11: An Indian national has been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus in the UAE, bringing the total number of confirmed infection cases to eight, the country's health ministry has said.

The death toll in China's coronavirus outbreak has gone up to 1,016 while the confirmed cases of infection have soared to 42,638, Chinese health officials said on Tuesday.

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) said on Monday that the Indian national was infected after he interacted with a recently diagnosed person.

"The Ministry of Health and Prevention announced today the eighth confirmed case of new coronavirus in the UAE, which is an Indian national who had interacted with a recently diagnosed person," it said in a tweet.

On Sunday, the ministry said that the two new patients, a Chinese national and a Filipino, had been diagnosed with the disease and were receiving medical care as per the highest health standards available in the country.

It said that all health facilities will continue to report any new cases suspected to have coronavirus.

Last week, a family of four who arrived from Wuhan for a holiday in Dubai were diagnosed with coronavirus. A fifth patient, who also arrived from the Chinese city, was confirmed to have been infected with 
the virus, but is reportedly in a stable condition.

China and countries around the world are scrambling to contain the spread of coronavirus which fiirst surfaced in Wuhan city in the Central Hubei province of China. Apart from China, two deaths have occurred in Hong Kong and the Philippines.

Besides Germany, Britain and Italy, other European nations with cases of the virus include France, Russia, Belgium, Sweden, Finland and Spain.

Bengaluru, Mar 30: The total number of COVID-19 cases in Karnataka has climbed to 88 on Sunday after five more persons tested positive for the lethal infection.

"Five more COVID-19 cases reported in Karnataka taking positive cases in the state to 88," said the State health department.

Of the five, one is a close contact of an earlier confirmed patient and the others are workers of a pharmaceutical company in Mysuru, from where a person had tested positive, the department said.

The country is under a 21-day lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus, which according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has infected 1,071 people so far.

Bengaluru, Apr 1: As many as 12 of the 40 identified people from Karnataka, who attended Tablighi congregation in Nizamuddin, Delhi, have tested negative for COVID-19, state Health Minister B Sriramulu said in a tweet on Wednesday.

It is also learnt that 62 foreigners from Indonesia and Malaysia, who attended the congregation, have visited the State and 12 of them have been quarantined, the tweet said.

''The health department, in association with the Home department, has jointly started the process of identifying all the 300 who attended the event,'' he said.
