KPCC seeks White Paper on financial status

January 9, 2012

Mangalore, January 9: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President G Parameshwara has demanded the State Government to bring out a White Paper on the financial status of the State.

Addressing media persons here on Monday, he alleged that the State Government had failed on all fronts of administration, and mobilization of revenue too is lagging behind.

“Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda himself had said on record that of the Rs 66,000 crore budgetary allocation for the State for 2011-12, the Government was able to spend only between 50 and 60 per cent. This indicated that the Government had failed in its administration”, he said.

Mr Parameshwara said the Government should announce how much amount it had spent for road development works of the Rs. 4,500-crore reserved for the purpose in the budget.

Mr Parameshwara alleged that the Government owed Rs. 3,500 crore to various contractors in the State for implementing development works. He further said that the Government should announce how much investment it had been able to attract in the recent Global Investors' Meet on agriculture held in Bangalore.

Mr. Parameshwara also pointed out that allocating Rs. 3,179 crore for agriculture was nothing to boast about as it was almost the same allocation as in previous general budgets. If the Agriculture Budget was to be something special, the Government should have increased the allocation, he added.

He said the Congress would raise all issues pertaining to the Government's failure in administration in the coming Assembly session.

General secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and in-charge of State party affairs Madhusudan Mistry, party leaders Oscar Fernandes, B. Janardhan Poojary, B.K. Hariprasad and others were present.
