Mangalore, January 11: A golden throne weighing 8-kgs and costing around Rs 2.5 crore donated by an NRI devotee to the idol of Veera Venkatesh, presiding deity of Sri Venkataramana Temple in the city was taken out in a grand procession from Mangala Stadium to the temple on Tuesday.
The donor is Mundkur Ramdas Kamath an Abu Dhabi based businessman. Apart from 8-kg gold, the throne also consists of 15-kg silver.
Artisans of Udupi based Swarna Jewellers carried out the work on the throne and other gold jewellery items ordered by the temple management committee for the consecration rituals of the temple, which belongs to the Gowda Saraswat Brahmin community.
