Mangalore, January 20: Sleuths of Dakshina Kannada district unit of Lokayukta police on Friday raided the District Registrar's office and arrested a clerk for taking bribe.
David, a second division clerk in the office was caught red-handed after he accepted a bribe of Rs 8,000 from one Ramachandra at around 12:00 pm.
Ramachandra, a resident of Bondantila near Vamanjoor on the outskirts of the city, had approached the registrar office for the registration of a piece of land recently purchased by him. When the clerk demanded the bribe to accomplish the work, Ramachandra lodged a complaint with Lokayukta police.
Playing a trick, the Lokayukta sleuths led by Inspector Uday Nayak, caught the official red-handed after the latter accepted the bribe from the complainant. The bribed amount was also seized.
