DC honours scouts, guides, cubs and bulbuls

Mangalore, January 29: The prize distribution ceremony for the students of Scouts and Guides was held at Deputy Commissioner's residence here on Sunday.

The event was organized by Bharat Scouts and Guides Karnataka, Dakshina Kannada District Organization.

Deputy Commissioner NS Chennappa Gowda, Honorary President of the Dakshina Kannada District Association presented "Thritiya Sopan Prashasthi" to scouts and guides, 'Thritiya Charan' to cubs, and 'Suvarnagari Padaka' to bulbuls.

Speaking on the occasion DC laid emphasis on the importance of co-existence and cooperation. He said that the future of our country is in the hands of today's children.

K Vasanth Rao, District Secretary, gave introductory speech. Ramesh Shetty, District Commissioner Scouts welcomed the gathering while Iren D'Kunha, District Commissioner Guides proposed vote of thanks and SN Gopalakrishna, District organizer compared the programme.

Bengaluru, Jun 27: Karnataka witnessed the biggest single-day spike in Covid cases on Saturday as 918 cases were recorded and 11 more deaths were linked to the pandemic. 

In Bengaluru alone, 596 more people tested positive for the infection in the last 24 hours as three more fatalities were also confirmed by the Department of Health and Family Welfare Services.

Bengaluru, Mar 21: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister CN Ashwath Narayan on Saturday said that all the IT companies in the state have agreed to close their offices and have also allowed some employees to work from home in the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic.

"IT companies agreed to close their offices and allow employees, except for those discharging essential services, to work from home during a video conference with companies' representatives yesterday," said Narayan.

The Deputy Chief Minister said a circular regarding it will be issued soon.

Udupi, May 2: All the 18 people who were advised self-quarantine in connection with the Thekkatte petrol bunk incident have been tested negative, however, they were asked to continue the 14-day quarantine, said DHO Sudhirchandra Suda on Saturday.

the petrol bunk at Thekkatte was sealed after a Covid infected person had food and took bath at the petrol bunk, while he was travelling from Mumbai to Mandya.

The employees and the owner of the petrol bunk along with the six employees at Sasthana toll gate were asked to quarantine themselves for 14 days.
