KSRTC bus rams into MCC truck

Mangalore, February 2: Two drivers sustained severe injuries in a ghastly road accident between a bus and a truck in the heart of the city early on Thursday morning.

The accident occurred exactly at 5:45 am, when the driver of a Puttur bound KSRTC bus, bearing registration number KA 19 F 2616, drew wrong side at the Bunts Hostel, without noticing oncoming vehicle.

The speeding bus rammed against the oncoming the waste carrier truck (KA 19 B 7266) causing major damages to both vehicles, said many eye witnesses including bus passengers.

The Mangalore City Corporation managed truck, which was moving from Kadri to PVS circle, was crossing the circle, during the accident, it is learnt.

Eyewitnesses including the bus passengers blamed the reckless driving on part of bus driver for the tragedy.

Police rushed to the spot within 15 minutes. More detais are awaited.

Bengaluru, Apr 21: An FIR has been filed against a Kannada TV anchor allegedly for organising a guest packed wedding at a resort near Bengaluru last week amid lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Police got the tip-off about the event held on April 18 by locals residing near the resort. Around 20 people were present there to attend the wedding.

The FIR has been filed under National Disaster Management Act (NDMA) and Section 188 and 269 of the Indian Penal Code.

Bengaluru, Jan 26: BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel has been served with a court notice asking him to personally appear before the special court for people’s representatives on February 24, in connection with a defamation suit filed by Congress MLA Rizwan Arshad.

Rizwan had lodged the defamation suit against Kateel and state BJP social media chief after the party, in a tweet during the 2019 Lok Sabha election, alleged Rizwan’s involvement in the manufacture of fake voter identity cards.

Apart from Kateel, head of the party’s social media unit has also been asked to appear in person at the above court on February 24.

Since the crowd swell within minutes the police were forced to order the shops forcibly as otherwise, it might have led to spread of dreaded killer Coronavirus COVID-19.

The rise in Covid-19 cases in Dakshina Kannada and the neighbouring Kasargod district had forced the district administration to declare on total bandh on Saturday and Sunday but in vain.
